I dunno. World War 2 did pacify Europe and deal the final blow to classical colonialism. War is is probably the the perpetual state of people until culture either becomes homogenized, or until war becomes to costly and trade is a more effective solution.

Humans are insane killer apes, sometimes quasi war can mitigate that. We should have invaded the DRC in 1998. That's assuming the purpose of war is to create peace though.
