WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A senior U.S. Marine Corps general who said it was "fun to shoot some people" should have chosen his words more carefully but will not be disciplined, military officials said on Thursday. Lt. Gen. James Mattis, who led troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, made the comments at a conference Tuesday in San Diego. "Actually it's quite fun to fight 'em, you know. It's a hell of a hoot. It's fun to shoot some people. I'll be right up front with you, I like brawling," said Mattis. "You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn't wear a veil," Mattis said during a panel discussion. "You know, guys like that ain't got no manhood left anyway. So it's a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them." or not????
There must be some pleasure in the life of a soldier, as some of the greatest men of this world have taken a military oath. I am not surprised that you find this statement odd. You must not be familiar of much of what has been written about the just wars. I don’t know many the hippy that doesn’t, at some level, feel for the French Revolutionists, but there must be one or two around here.
because of the fundemental principal that life consumes life, it is not impossible for evolution to cause us to have a pleasure to kill. I'm guessing that he was talking about the feeling of battle, in which there is honor. Some people see shooting them as battle, some as murder.
ah actually see, i agree with the good ol general,,, i personally think maybe it would be a good thing iffin there was a few more like himout there in this world,,,, maybe some would actually get the whole idea of war n shit a lil better than what they do now,,,, just wanted to hear/see what others thunk of the ol feller,,,,n why...
