The we are left with the quandary of who starts the projections and who follows with their own projections.

    Still not a comfort.

What is so difficult about watching these barbarians destroy each other? Seems to be Devine intervention. What could be better? Earthquake? Just to add. barry does NOT have any power what-so-ever to get our troops involved. This is a muslom civil war. The Constitution does not allow this. Congress needs to approve. barry's rogue actions are grounds for impeachment. Could barry's man crush on islam be shining through?

This war is retarded. When will America realize that "preventive" preemptive wars do not stop terrorism, but breeds it?

I hope to ease your mind then. I am modest in my expectations, but I accept nothing less, that is don't look out there for things you can only find in yourself. There is no relief from the dissolution of the body, but there is no reason to do it to each other either. But even if no one did it to each other, we still pass on. You cannot move another persons diaphragm nor they yours, our hearts and minds being a kingdom we alone can rule.

Yep... 100,000 killed before the chemical weapons and that was fine. Hundred or two hundred killed with and oh no no.... not okay. Must step in.

    Something doesn't compute.

Are you actually suggesting there’s no difference between conventional weapons and WMD’s (chemical, biological, or nuclear)

I'm not saying that. (and I really don't think Syria is about to use a nuclear weapon on other people.... silliness...)
I'm saying it wasn't a big deal to western governments when 100,000 people were killed by bombs and guns (etc) but the couple hundred killed by chemical weapons (which has NOT been proven, btw... where it came from...), that's a big deal?

Yeah I am wondering exactly where/what the missals will target...

and you know, even though they are saying right now that this is all it will be- that they don't want a full scale war or ground troops- once they do this, Iran is saying they will attack Israel... there may be terrorist attacks... there's any number of things that could happen. But what I'm getting at is if they think they are just gonna put some missiles in there and be done with it, that seems niave to me.

In the first round of missiles we fired into Libya, we hit a truck... I may be wrong about that.

It may have missed entirely. [/sarcasm]

    Hopefully none of this happens.

A strike won't happen until after the G20 summit on Sept. 5th. But it will happen, either that or the allies will supply weapons to the rebels. Most Syrians support the rebels, so there's political favour for the allies to intervene.

How can you give credibility to someone who uses weapons on his own people?

UN Security Council *should* act swiftly in response and plan to bare the brunt of a regime overthrow, someway or another.

I'm really tired of interventionist foreign policy. It's really a shame people are dying, but people need to sort out their own problems. We have enough of our own. All a 'regime overthrow' is going to do is piss off Iran, Russia and China.

And the only country that is going to 'bare the brunt' is the US. So more of my countrymen dying and coming back all fucked up and with ptsd issues. I love how the rest of the world and the UN (fuck the UN) can be so critical of the US all the time, then say that we need to invade when it suits whichever humanitarian agenda of the moment. I've yet to talk to an American who thinks we should invade.

Well, someone is going to supply weapons to the rebels. It might as well be the default American plutocrats. Most plutocrats are tired of the recession anyway, and war is good for business.

K, seriously though, I'm not a fan of stern words while Assad gleefully mustard gasses his people, but shoving our wide boot in there will really make a mess of things.

But really, nobody's invading. At this point, the administration will sanction bombing campaigns that will only get Assad fired up.
