No one forced them to enlist and go.

I am of the same mind.

Listen, I like war (some may even say I love it) and don't think it is something to fear or avoid. Yet, I am just tired of fighting other people's wars.

You are right, nobody forced them to enlist. But our soldiers are also not meant to be used for foreigners who can't handle their own shit. They are meant to be used for defense of the united states.

I know, and I agree, but considering the history of American military interventions, and foreign policy, American soldiers should now know what to expect.

    Thanks for bombing Serbia though!

We lost 58,2xx service men and women. We killed millions of the cong and NVA, Id say we had a good kill ratio. Stack them up and use them as cover.

If you changed the words "forced them" with "enticed them with a shitload of lies," you'd be lying.

Okay... I'm just getting really bored with this. (whole Syria thing)...every time I turn on the tv all damn week it's the same stupid thing... "the ships are lined up...we know what we're going to hit. we know it was assad's regime who used the chemical weapons, but we have not made a decision yet"--- "but we're ready to go.."

I mean... do it or don't do it. Just talking about the same thing all week is starting to annoy me. And I know they're going to do it, which I think is a horrible idea... but since they are going to... just do it already. Whatever.

(I feel like they've already made up their minds and now are trying to look good... like they are THINKING ABOUT IT...)

Some Americans signed up to serve their country and defend it. Had the correct mindset and did what needed done. Served their time and went home to continue life.

The others were pussies who should have never signed up. Only doing so for free college, GI bill etc. Then they turn around and cry and whine they actually had to put in work. They use the crutch of 'ptsd' because they couldn't/cant handle it. But they could handle all the benefits that follow joining a branch of the service.

My uncle was a soldier and has ptsd. Unfortunately, it does fuck people up. It is a crutch.
Edit: I should also say that he never got any benefits.

Not everyone is suited to see others blown to bits. Evidently some can take it and some can't. Do you, Mr Tuna, realize NOW that VN was a waste of time , money and life?

    Civilian contract.

It mainly points toward the kids who signed up in HS for the free college. I do believe some were told they would get more, But for the most part they got their due for serving.

Yeah, well, war is not a fun game.
And I guess it makes a difference whether you sign up to go fight somewhere, or sign up because your country is basically being attacked and bombed, which means you have little choice.

So you were never one of us. What were you contracted to do? I don't have any problem with you, or any other civilian, having your opinions. Its when you start running your mouth like you do despite not having the balls, or the aptitude, to sign on the dotted line yourself that really gets me going. Pussies? What the fuck would you know about it? You're not one of us. Do some find out they don't have what it takes to serve once they're in? Yes, many do. At least they had the balls to give it a shot.

And then there is the whole question of whether your average 17 year old is mature enough to make these types of decisions? It's a known fact that the brain does not become fully developed until mid 20's. And if you're not even old enough to have a beer in a certain country, but they say you're old enough to make the decision to die for said country?...
