Was Jesus a hippy??

On the Four Way Street Album, Steven Stills called Jesus, "the first non-violent revolutionary."

If guys nowadays had long hair, protested against the establishment, lived out in nature, had no real job..spending their days talking about love & peace then society would say they were a no-good hippie. So if society can call anyone a hippy now then it should be ok to call Jesus a hippy also.

 

Maybe his clothing style and long hair was a general style in his environment?

 

Interesting question.Long or short hair may not have been a big deal back then as it is for women in western countries today.

 

Hair and cloths does not a hippie make.

One of my favorite bumper stickers is "Jesus was a Liberal". Yes, I think he was a hippie too. Funny how the times change.

I'm not sure if Jesus was a hippie. He was close. And not to start an agrument, but hippies never contributed anything good to the world. Where as Jesus did. Hippies just live and exist.

 

You know, for the most part, that's true, but there were many who did.

well, I don't want to argue either, but I'll just say I disagree with you on this comment. Not sure what your thinking is, but you're generalizing, IMO. I'm sure there are lazy hippies, but there are also hip people who have contributed a lot to the betterment of the world, each in his or her own way. But of course, Jesus was/is in a class by Himself, that is certainly true.

 

Actually I might have thought so at one time, but wasn't he responsible for stopping the rummage sales in the temples on the Sabbath? Not too hip to destroy other people's belongings because it goes against your way of thinking.

I don't doubt that Jesus did opium.
That was a big deal in that time in the Middle East...

 

i think he was absolutely a peace maker and humble of spirit...now if all hippies can be of such spirit, then the world would be full of jesus's...but we have too much ego involved.
but as far as hippieness goes....hell yes the man was a hippie....just a super hippie.
