Yep... I looked closer today at the scale I had bought... I had been getting frustrated that I wasn't losing too much weight... thought I had only lost about 2 pounds in the past week with working out so much and eating well but then I discovered I was looking at it totally wrong and I had really lost ten pounds this week not two or three. So yay That was very good news.
i've lost 25 pounds since early december i havent really tried to do anything, aside from eating little to no meat and even fewer dairy products.
Basically I've been on a diet called the Fat Flush Plan which uses foods that stimulate weight loss.... pretty much it's just small amounts of lean meat, lots and lots of fresh veggies, fruit smoothies and not much more. Haven't been drinking at all and have been doing aerobic excercise for two thirty minute segments a day plus strength training... I didn't used to work out at all so me consistently working out now makes a huge difference I suppose. I'm so glad I realized how much I have actually thought... it will defiantly help to keep me very motivated now that I can see it paying off.
thats wonderful. Do you have a lot of weight that you are trying to lose? I had a goal at the beginning of this year to get to 135 by April. I started off at 160 and am currently at 148...So I am on my way. I can tell you that working out is so wonderful for every part of you....body, mind and spirit. I love working out and use it so much for my mind more than anything else. What foods does it promote?
Oh, good job! Yeah, I have a lot of weight I want to loss- about 45 pounds- Which now would be 35 more. Not gonna say my weight because it sounds worse then it even is because I'm really tall (5'11'') hehe... but yeah, 35 more. The foods that the diet I'm on promotes (or doesn't promote) is for the first stages espiecially there is no caffeine, salt or sugar allowed. It has me drinking a lot of unsweetened cranberry juice, berry protein shakes with flax seed oil, lots of veggies. like broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, eggplant, spinach, radishes... tomatoes.... seasonings that are in it are lots of garlic, onions (not a seasoning but oh well ), coriander, cumin, ginger, fennel, parsley, cilantro, cayenne...stuff like that. And there is small amounts of lean chicken and lots of fish like salmon.
Oh and I agree about working out being great for your mind. I've been really calm and happy since I started. It's great.
I am short though. I am only 5 foot 2. but I have a bigger build. Not bulky or anything but medium build and big breasts. I havent lost any weight there so they are as they are...always have been and always will be. I know when I get to the 135 it will just be a step and there will be more I will want to lose but its good to have small term goals. That diety thing sounds really good. I did a master cleanser for 10 days and that really helped to boost the progress. I am now though at the time of month where I absolutely crave carbs. Its a two week long time too. And generally this is when I lose all the progress I have made in the month. hahaha.
Ugh I cut my caloric intake way down, and I do cardio - but I only lose 1/2lb. a week. So far I've only lost 10 pounds. It's so irritating. I keep wanting to go on a crash diet so I can go ahead and lose my 30 pounds by April.
Ugh... yeah, I get that same way during that time of the month. Start craving greasy subs, wings, stuff like that. The way I see it though is I'll give myself a day once a week or every other week that if I've been doing really good I'll eat whatever. Like tomorrow we're going out to eat for Valentine's day and I'm gonna eat whatever I want.... the surf and turf is I want it AND an appetizer and dessert. Figure I deserve it, haha. Yeah, you are right about short term goals. It might actually help me in the long term to break mine down like that.
Well, really you are only supposed to lose a half pound to two pounds a week. I have a feeling once I keep going it's not gonna come off as easy for me.
Yeah but you are losing it in a very good way, a way that will truly stick. I have found the want to just go take a magic pill to accelerate it all too but then I remember that I would rather do the work myself. Congrats to you too Angela
Enjoy your dinner Yes you do deserve it. Its hard to take on a new way of eating and living...but you are doing it and that is so wonderful. I am doing the best I can with this here craving, trying to not let it take over. I only had a long term goal until my trainer told me to break it down. I go to the Y everyday just about and have a wonderful trainer who helps me to get focused sometimes. He's really cool. I went in there so depressed today due to some stuff my counselor and I were talking about. I was running on the elliptical and he came up to me and just started talking to me...I suppose he just knew I needed a friend. We talked for the entire hour about things that were so stimulating. Took me out of my mood and my funk. I'm glad I have found a friend in him and glad that he's married and has kids so there isn't any sticky energy there.
Haha (at the last part).... Yeah that is really cool that you have such a great trainer. Not that this person is my trainer but I have gotten a lot of good advice for work outs and encouragement from fitzy on here and that's helped a lot. Oh and Marie... I think if you get a craving for a certain food, you can eat it just eat a small amount of it. Like eating one slice of pizza compared to three.
I threw out my scale about a year ago. Then a couple months ago I went to the doctor's because I had a sinus infection and had to step on the scale there and wow.... I had gained so much weight that I was shocked and really depressed. I don't even really look like I've gained as much weight as I did because I'm tall and I really carry the weight well but it was at an unhealthy level. That's when I went and bought another scale just because I wanted to see progress. I do agree though that how you feel and how your clothes fit are the most important thing. Even before I realized I had lost ten pounds (just it was just two or three) I was happy because my clothes fit me so much better and I just felt better.
Encouragement is absolutely key, I think. My partner is great with that as well...though he is one of those super positive people and well you get to where you don't believe them because they see everything in happiness and encouragement Oh that would be lovely if I would stop at 3. But I would say, ok only one. then I would have 6 when I would normally only have 3 just because for some reason when I do something I like to do it big. So for me its best to do my best to stay away from any of the things I am craving. I truly wont stop.
