Adolf Hitler didn't have to be Adolf Hitler. Our will creates our reality. If we have a will to meaning, we will discover meaning and be engulfed by it. If we have the will to success, our lives will focus on the contemporary view of success. If we have the will to power, then we will turn into Hitler, but Hitler didn't HAVE to have that will, and there is nothing to prove that was inevitable. Peoples lives change. One day you can be a gangster, murdering people, and the next, turn into a charitable person. Is this true or untrue? I think that free will is the choice between these wills, the rest follows from it. To me, the will to ultimate meaning brings you ultimate happiness. Survival is the byproduct of following God's rules. Why do Christians, true Christians, live longer? Why do they look healthier? Why do they have more loving lives? Look at their eyes and you will spot a difference. Can anyone really challenge me on this? Again, please don't take this as a battle because I am not. Animals definitely change over time, I agree. When an American kicks someone's ass for burning the flag, and then turns around and shouts "America is great!" What does the America flag represent? Freedom and the protection of civil liberties, right? So, the person kicking that guys ass for expressing their civil liberties is someone who worships the symbol rather than what the symbol represents. What do we call this?
Come on, Matt, I always heard you out without suggesting you were nuts. But I do find that funny though And you're right, the swine flu is interesting isn't it? Was the devil, in the Bible, associated with swines? 1 or zero.
How so? I only read the first two pages. Once it turned into a religious argument, I stopped paying attention.
ive never noticed that christians have such uncanny ability i would love to see some evidence for this. my whole point deff zeppelin, is to show that people are different. what you may find to be the truth in all things is not the truth for the next. also, that there are many ways to understand why the world is not in 'loving harmony'. to understand this is to be wise and to be insightful. to question it and project your very one sided philosophy is no better than what Hitler did in Germany.
hehe, i was just tiring to amuse you my Ole chap. and that i think you're very opinionated. but, arent we all?
I don't KNOW that the bible is inaccurate, which is my point. NOBODY knows the true nature of "after-life" until they die. The bible was written by men and there are NUMEROUS versions of the bible. If you've so certain that the bible is accurate, which bible are you talking about? They all exhibit different versions of biblical times and there is no possible way that they can all be 100% accurate, so which version do you follow? The message of "Jesus" is that people can be good, overall, but that nobody is perfect and we all have flaws. I never said there wasn't a worthy message in the bible, because most of the bible is full of worthy messages and values, but that doesn't mean it's not fiction. Many stories profess moral messages and aren't taken as literally as the bible. The bible is taken so literally because people are willing to follow someone else's words, as opposed to finding their own way. People need to live the way they see fit, regardless as to whether or not the bible is accurate. Otherwise, they are just lying to themselves and following someone else's morals/beliefs without considering how they really feel, which basically equates to them lying to themselves and God and not living according to their own feelings. People follow religious/governmental rule without considering how they, as individuals, feel and are basically sacrificing their individuality based on someone else's ideals. This, in my opinion, is a form of being dishonest with one's self and living someone else's life. Even if there is a God, I'm sure he doesn't want to be worshipped by people who are simply kissing his ass to get into heaven, as opposed to being themselves and being honest. Obama cannot be compared to God, Jesus, or the antichrist. He is simply a man doing the best he can with what he was given, as is the case with all of us.
"I don't see how I am nuts. You never see me talking about UFOs or Bigfoot." I don't remember talking about UFO'S or Bigfoot, we could in another thread if you want to though =p "How so? I only read the first two pages. Once it turned into a religious argument, I stopped paying attention." Ok, but what did I say that was untrue? Seems like you are getting upset at something and I don't understand why. Do you believe there is a God watching over you? What I talk about isn't philosophy. What did I say that was untrue, can you point it out please? The best thing about living in the now is not requiring a philosophy. It's about being EMPTY of philosophy and just experience reality for what it truly is, magical and loving. Each philosophy will spell out your reality. Whichever one you follow, you will live in, but if you remove all philosophy, and embrace reality, not the ego, or the matrix, then you'll see what I mean. "Damn def, haven't seen you around here in a LONG time. I take it things are going well though " Hey Buddy, I missed ya. Things have been going amazing, ty. I hope the same for you. What would you say Robert Plant is? What would you say inspired his life more than anything? What is stairway to heaven about?
I don't believe in an all-powerful God or entity that lords over us lambs. I, however, do believe there is a higher presence in this universe, and I feel that organized religion serves to take us away from that presence with manmade dogma that serves only for control purposes. So I am very leery about religion, but religion is not to be confused with spirituality.
and im very leery about people like deff zeppelin....really. people like him are why the world is so fuct. nothing against you deff zeppelin
I agree that religion shouldn't be confused with spirituality, and I hate dogmas of all kinds, which is why it's important to embrace the now. When you embrace the now, you embrace reality. When you embrace thoughts, you embrace philosophies and the false perception of what I call the "matrix time". Where you feel inevitable to the past and you feel that your future is spelled out for you. Why is it that scientists can't predict the future? What is there mission? To predict the future, right? Sure, they understand that if you add a + b and C together, you will get D, but is that really prediction or just understanding the WAY (tao) of reality? I don't like organized religions either, all I like is the truth, and I believe that truth is in the Bible. You don't have to believe, but you can challenge, or ignore what I am saying. Up to you of course. I don't think God rules over lambs, but over men. Men to me are people without ego. Book are here so that we can find our way back to reality and to close remove the ego. If there is a satan, then he rules over the sheep. What was Jesus called in the Bible?
Eggzakly. I'm not sure if this is how you meant for you post to come across, but I took it as expressing the same thing I talked about in my last post. People are more concerned with kissing ass so they can be rewarded with admission to heaven/paradise, and they neglect to follow their own feelings/insticts because they think they will be punished for doing so. This is the wrong reason to live morally, because if you don't base your life on your own feelings/instincts, then you're lying to yourself and not living the life you're meant to live and morals mean nothing, because you're following those morals for the wrong reasons. hahaha I have a feeling that I worded that in a way that was completely incoherent, so if anyone requires clarification, just ask:tongue:
deff zeppelin, did you take a hiatuse to read books. books like the tao of pooh. or philosophy for dummies? you seem rather convicted in proving something. if you believe it as truth then cool. otherwise let individuals who sense a greater wisdom alone.
What am I doing wrong? I mean, if I make you feel uncomfortable, you can always just close the tab or whatever. You expressed what you wanted to say, and so did I. What am I doing that is crazy? I just responded to each reply accordingly. Do you usually see me preaching on these boards? Do I specifically tell people to believe, or am I just a guy expressing himself just like everyone else accordingly? Also, have I really said anything untrue so far? Before you said you loved my attitude and contrasted me against hitler. Am I being forceful?
I haven't. I have studied pretty extensively, personally. My favorite books are Man's Search for Meaning, Man's Search for Ultimate Meaning, and everything I needed to know about religion I learned from Alan Watts because he expresses it very well. I think everyone feels convicted in proving something, aren't you doing that right now? Everyone wants their point to come across, and you want yours to right now. If anything is inevitable, it is that. Would you say that I sound knowledgeable? Personally, I think much of philosophy creates a maze of thoughts, and in the end, just mental masturbation. What is ultimately important is reality, and nothing expresses that more deeply than right now.
