What is the last band that came along and knocked the music industry on it's ass? Has there been anyone since Nirvana? I think it is time for a revolution. When can we turn the radio on again and be wowed instead of feeling embarrassed?
i dont like most new music... i stopped buying cd's in 1999 when the music that was starting to come out was so so except for a few redeeming albums like rhcp's californication...
Nirvana sucks just like the rest of them. Training. Thats what all the best have. Its the self-taught bullshit that kills greatness. I play guitar as well as 80% of the motherfuckers out there.
There are plenty of decent bands out there making good music. The majority of them are far from original, though.
There's still tons of good music, you just have to look a little harder for it, becuase it's not mainstream, so it isn't all over the media.
Daughtry? Don't make me laugh. Bands I've been listening to a lot lately include. The John Butler Trio KT Tunstall Paolo Nutini Powderfingers Feist Dropkick Murphies The Shins The Weakerthans Radiohead The best way to find good music is to simply download random albums, that's how I find most of my stuff.
Yeah, I agree. Even the indie scene seems stagnant. Maybe the modern cultural context is just too fucked to inspire great music.
I'll name a few modern bands/artists I feel are worthy of mention: Mogwai Godspeed You! Black Emperor Explosions in the Sky Wilco DJ Shadow Boards of Canada Squarepusher
they were born elsewhere. they just really liked mcgill. Remember back when they ruled, you know, before the exclamation mark?
Oh, and for the record, I didn't mean that there wasn't good music out there nor was I saying Nirvana was a great band... But it was the last band that really changed the industry IMO. They ushered in a change in pop culture in general. No bands since then have had that kind of impact on such a wide level, IMO.
