This is evil. Seriously evil. Sure, those who toked up knew they were facing possible arrest for trespassing for doing so. But it really ticks me off that these pigs couldn't look the other way and not be complete assholes. http://www.colorado.edu/police/420_Photo_Album/index.htm Sometimes challenges to "the system" just makes the system stronger
Yeah it is bullshit. Its a good reminder to not get pictures taken while you're doing anything illegal.
Unfuckin real....One of the already identified guys is my good buddy for the last 12 yrs. he rarely tokes anymore.
In Boulder, smoking at Farrand Field on 4/20 is as much of the tradition as smoking pot on 4/20. That is why.
what exactly can you be charged with even if you are id'ed? former possession of pot? trespassing? expulsion?
that just shows that the gov't is screwed up. i bet most of the people that will be turned in by this have done nothing wrong. as un-hippy as this sounds i hope whomever thought up that idea gets hit by a train.
PFFFT ROFLLMFAO!!!! AHAHAHAH I laughed out loud really LOUD when I saw that, classic. I like theone guy lighting a joint with the sunglasses with the lightning bolt insignia on the side, gd lightning bolt i assume.
I believe they are charging them with trespassing, so basically some sort of fine payable to the institution. I haven't talked to my friend who was positiviely identified yet, when I do I'll let you know what they charged him with.
It's a hoax. The pics show individuals in a crowd so it can't be trespassing. And there is no way to prove the people pictured weren't pretending to smoke pot. They can't bust/harrass people without proof of a crime commited. And even if they could prove the people were smoking pot, what would they be guilty of? Once smoking pot? If so, they'd have to arrest approx. half the people in the U.S. who have smoked pot sometime in their lives.
Here's a link to some mainstream media articles about this... http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&tab=wn&ie=UTF-8&q="farrand+field"&btnG=Search+News
Agreed. And if it's not a hoax, isn't the university itself breaking a law by posting these images and accusing someone of a crime on the internet, before it has gone through the proper police procedure?
I suppose they're "suspects" until Id'ed. Boy if this isn't big brother, I don't know what is. I'd like to know what gave them the right to: 1. Close off the field in the first place, when it's part of a public university. 2. Allow the survellience, picture taking and posting of pictures on the internet. (Yes, I know, public place and all) 3. Get others to rat on people for such a minor violation as tresspassing. Indeed if they ARE students, they aren't really tresspassing on university grounds are they? 4. Play Big Brother. This is just a taste of what is to come. This is the kind of country we've let the US become by NOT standing up against the abuse of our civil rights. Big Brother is a reality, and few ppl seem to understand where this is leading us and the long term implications for society. We are being watched, recorded, analysed, identified, listed, ratted, arrested, fined, filed, placed on more lists, often without harming anyone or any complaint being lodged by a citizen. It's completely absurd, and I would expect the students to make a big issue of it on campus, protests, strikes, sit-ins, and more is called for. If they DON'T act now, then they deserve the fascist society they've let happen.
Skip: While Farrand Field is Part of the public university, I believe the institution reserves the right to close any portion of the campus as deemed necessary by the administration. Why can't I go toss the bee on Folsom Field on a Thursday afternoon? Folsom is their football stadium which is technically the same as anyother field they own. However, i don't think they should've closed Farrand becaue I have enjoyed many 4/20s of my own there. As for student up roar I have a feeling it will not be as big of an issue as you'd expect simply because there's a week left before the end of the semester.
Every year for as long as I've known stoners from Colorado gather on 4/20 at a place called Farrand Field. Farrand Field is a large field at the University of Colorado Boulder, the largest university in the state and it is a state school. Now I'm not talking a handful of kids I'm talking hundreds of students, friends, and tokers gather to smoke there and the cops used to more or less turn their eyes and noses. However, last year they turned the sprinklers on during the event in an ATTEMPT to get everyone to leave. This year they "closed" the field for most of the day, but students went ahead as normal and now here we are. Hope this helps.
