In an effort to keep all these two post threads (scraps?) in higher prominence, I announce the new discoveries thread.
THis is for that newer band you don't see posted here, but should be.
NO BAND BASHING. Take that to a new thread please, as this will be a continuing multi band thread.
Try to keep your personal poste to one per week (with a new one)
We should be busy catching live music, right?

My first suggestion is a moderately-known band:
    New Monsoon. www.newmonsoon.com
    also a Tribe
Jammy rock with tabla and a banjo. Good, rooted rock sensibilities with a willingness to stretch out and explore. The drums and percussion are tight.
Check Etree and archive.org for live.
Look for a newer song "For Marie" (that's what it was the night I heard it on breakout at Cervantes', possibly renamed?)

    www.kannal.org
tribal trance with sexy, powerful women spinning fire. these guys captured Burning Man a couple years ago and started a lot of chatter on the west coast.
I was at the Colorado ren faire yesterday and had people (old companeros) ask about them. Seems the Northwest loves 'em too.
bonus: the bus is veggie D (dual tank)

I LOVE New Monsoon! I going to suggest another moderatly known band
Perpertual Groove - www.pgroove.com - they're from Athens Georrgia and are a jam/ambient/rock group with even some island sounding songs. They are very good and have two studio albums and a bunch of shows on Archive.org

as someone who got burned out on pseudo reggae, they were a breath of fresh air, new things to say and polyrhythms in the music.

these guys and gals are by far some of the coolest people on earth you will ever meet... they blend all types of music and play into their shows to create or should i say co-create a psychedelic jam circus... they put on three festivals a year.. Harvest Fest... a crazy make-believe festival.. they hire 300+ performers just for campsite entertainment... from fire dancers to stilt walkers.. SnowBall... and Project E.A.R.T.H... a co-creation festival.. where your input is as important as the people setting it up... all the money made at the festival was donated to charity... not a cent was gained by the hosts... i highly suggest checking these guys out... great people working a great causes...

ps: check out this article about them in citypages to get a little better idea about what these guys are about

    Links???

hey, sad news. Josh Lewandowski of Love Scene Clear died from a car wreck a month a go. His brother Christian is recovering, slowly, physically, I don't know about emotionally. He was very close with Josh. THe band is obviously at least on hiatus, if not over.

I don't ever see enough about kimock, and at 10k there were only like 20 people watching him. This guy needs more publicity or something.

If you like funk check out the few fantastic four shows floating around out there.

LOL, I guess I don't consider Kimock "new" but yeah, check out my brother Steve and whatever cast he's with now (Zero-ish for festies for summer-fall)

Check out the art on the cover of Live in Colorado CD and the DVD. That's our studio.

    Banyan
took me a bit to "get" Willy, (SoCal energy is overwhelming to a mountain girl).
Waldman is an amazing presence and not half bad on a horn.
Played with Snoop Dogg and Tupac and came out of the punk scene. That's intense!

and wisdom fairly rocks, too (the live painter)
