Any advice on how to gain weight if your vegetarian, without stuffing your face with junk food? My husband turned vegetarian about 6 months ago. he's always been thin even as a meat eater. He still consumes dairy... and eggs so that helps a bit... I try to make him eat 3 times or more a day but sometimes it doesn't happen. I've been giving him baggies with nuts and sandwiches when he's working, it helps his apetite, but I havent noticed any weight gain yet... oh and by the way... we don't take any pills or suplements unless its totally natural thanxxxx
lots of oatmeal + pasta + rice + nuts + oils = nice weight gain(muscle if he lifts weights) Make sure he gets a good amout of protein....
nuts and seeds, avacado, fresh coconuts all are fairly high in oils..thus high calory. a litle extra cooking oil in anything you cook will ad calories however if your after low fat high enregy, do a google search on "complex carbohydrates". link below explains simple vs complex carbs http://www-health.concordia.ca/healthEd/key%20toHealth/carbohydrates.html
I turned vegi about a year ago. I was 175lbs. then and now I'm about 165lbs. I feel healthier though and as long as I don't loose anymore I'll be happy. I try to eat a dozen eggs per week, I eat boat loads of jasmine rice, lots and lots of tofu. I also make my own grainola with plenty of nuts and seeds. Oh yeah, I have a weekness for shell fish (mussels & clams mostly) if I fall off the vegi wagon, it'll be for those yummy little fellas.
