    Hello all!

I recently became vegetarian and will be easing my way to being vegan. I've also began weight-lifting and would like to add a lot of muscle in the next year.

I've been researching protein supplement shakes and so forth from multiple vitamin shops and online. Most of these muscle building shakes contain bovine products like whey and collostrum. SOOOO gross to me. I don't know what to do.

Does anyone have suggestions of vegan-friendly muscle building shakes or supplements? I've been researching and can't find any that are healthy and don't contain partially hydrogenated oils.

Thanks so much for the help. I'd also like to hear your story of body-building and veganism. It would really be uplifting.

the guys who do the personal training at my gym all seem to snack on nuts non stop. I think it is a mixture of the fats and proteins that are in them but I have to admit I don't know if they do the shake thing away from work.
    :)

I was goona say try hemp protien, but that stuff drumminmama sugested seems pretty good, I have bought the hemp protien powder before though it ran me about a dollar per serving, so not that bad I guess. Don't know how big you wanna get, I lift a little and don't use anything alot of it is just training right and eating at the right times, good luck. peace

Thanks for you suggestions all. I'm going to try the vega products if I can find them around Boston. I want to get pretty big, but I also have a small stomach so I basically force myself to eat sometimes. Will try the hemp protein, too.

    Thanks again. Cheers.

    Hey
This is vegan, and the best protein powder I've come across(and tried) - http://www.sunfood.com/cgi-bin/order/index.cgi?id=825136570&d=single&item_id=1017&m=home
They have a chocolate flavored one too linked @ the bottom I havent tried.

Hemp protein powder would be my 2nd pic. I would def. recommend that over any soy/rice/animal product powder.

There is also a book on that site http://www.rawfood.com about building muscle on a raw vegan diet. Raw Power by Stephen Arlin. Their about to release a new version of it in a few months I think.
