Britain has some of the worst and highest level of youth crime. it has the worst drinking epidemic in the whole of Europe. The moral standards are almost non existent and Britain's society has crumbled into a yobbish society, dominated by the pc world and over run by kids who's parents simply don't give a toss about their children. We talk about, aka 1995, when bus travel was not free for kids. Where teachers were not afraid to grab you by the ear and make you write a hundred lines on the blackboard (Now we must call it, a chalkboard, as the word, "Black", may offend) Or chuck a piece of chalk at the heads of snoozing students. No, we cannot touch kids no more. Infact, kids are invincible but adults revolt at the idea, but have thus created it. Society has in my opinion crumbled. No longer can we trust our government. No longer can we guarantee our children a decent education. And no longer can citizens walk the street without being at even higher risk of being shot, mutilated, stabbed up or mugged for no more than the price of a cup of Nescafe. One can be positive, but perhaps now is the time to be realistic about the state of our british society. We talk about regeneration from the 2012 games. We talk about how we are ready. Ready my arse! The olympics is just a way to hide the crumblence of society away from the rest of the world. When tourists look to britain after 2012, they will have olympic rings in their eyes. They will commit folly by giving Britain's society, the benefit of the doubt. Rubbish, litter, debrie. Our streets are caked in it. Why? Who is in charge of recycling for London? Homeless, why so many unreported assualts, and why is our police force so corrupt? The council tax, an unfair burden on familes that earn less than the middle class. The transport, is crap. If you are not smothered in children, you are stranded on a section of the railway, between London bridge and Charing Cross. Religion? Yet again, we are devided. so perhaps Britain would benefit from a secular state. That way, no one religion can dominate non believers. Instead unity and an unreligious society, may sustain the peace. But then at the same time, society needs an overdose of the biblical morals in the New Testament (personally suggest, after I read Livictucus) Britain's health service. A shambles, people dying invain, for a simple hip replacement or a broken foot. These are the most powerful personal views. I don't expect everyone to agree. But, what are your views? Is Britain's society crumbling. Do we infact have one of the worst track records of crime, in Europe? Should then, we be sanctioned by the Eu council? Should Britain be sanctioned by the European union in order for us, to save our country from civil war and total anarchy in the UK?
Yep, this place is in a state. Its pretty damn grim for the most part, and im an optimist But i dont think beating up kids is going to help matters Ive already done my share of ranting about the state of this place in the past, and i think ive exhausted myself now
britain is a feudal state going back a few generations the people were told about some glorious future when in reality they were just going to be replaced with cheaper from the rest of the empire. i pity the people of britain now thank god i don't have to live there any more. i liken britain to rome, when rome collapsed it was the colonies that took over the mantle of civillization look yes i know its very sad but if you can i would start looking for a way out tout de suite. unless you are on something like, i don't know say 50 thousand after tax AND have some sizeable property what makes you think you have any say or stake in britains future? some brutal truths i know but some for you to ponder at least even if you reject them outright?
I don't know if we're completely fucked. I still think there's a lot of the old fashioned British spirit kicking about. And still some general respect in some quarters. Why, I was in the shop just yesterday when a 15 year old girl was asking about a job there. "I've put me name down before, you never called" - 'I've given up' was what she was wanting to say I think. But she was with an older fellow who'd know her all his life (he said), he told her to ask with some respect, talk nicely. She did and got to put her name down, again. Shopkeep was certainly happier about the situation. I do wonder about these kids today sometimes though They are teenagers, and they will act out and that. There's just a growing majority of them are acting out wilder than ever before. I'm sure there's still plenty studying away, creating, enjoying themselves without smashing anything. And those kids will have a better idea of how to deal with their criminal counter-parts when they all grow up It'll be fine!
Yep, the UK is pretty much disgusting. There our chavs littering every street corner harassing people, vandalism wherever you look, an incredible lack of respect for everything and everyone. God knows what went wrong! I actually don't enjoy living here anymore. It's sad.
heh... i think this place has been "crumbling" since 500ad... if yer ask the great unwashed that is.. y'all wanna find a time machine and go back to the 1970's ...... then you'll see wot "crumbling" really was... and yet, miraculously... all is not dust and detritus Pessimists and naysayer run rampant in this country.... always have.. it's amazing we ever get any further forward
It's always been shite, no? There's a couple of places me likey but on the whole I'm not a fan really. Brits are ok as a people but often seem to be under the impression they're the only ones alive. Wherever you go is never utopic, there's always going to be other BS to deal with, each country has it's own shitty habits, politics, bureaucracy and all the rest. That said, I've a one way ticket to Spain for februrary. :leaving: Not going forever but a couple of years min. Enough shite over there too but at least it's different shite for a while... They're chavs but there our chavs
the kids will come around. everyone in the usa expected my generation to be a buncha perpetual losers, slackers with no real grasp on reality or what it means to be a family. most of us ended up being succesful and responsible sorts with a renewed love of family, friends and home.
The problem is, we are wrapped up in a pc world and we cannot lay a hand on our kids. It is asthough, if we chastise our kids, it is abuse. Kids aint innocent anymore. The little creeps can't even spell my name right, let alone do well at basic spoken English.
Ahem. I can spell your name. John. I can do well at basic spoken english. And im not a creep Im actually hurt. Well a hurt creep then Of course kids arent innocent anymore. Our society revolves around sex and yet kids are 'too young to know' about that stuff. People swear all the time. But kids arent supposed to know. (i swore loudly accidentaly while my form tutor was like a few feet away - no notice taken) I mean the pressure i have to have a bf is like WTF?! and it worked... Though i dont regret it. But anyway, i have heard like 7yr olds laughing about having 'a shag' i mean eewwwwwwwww!! I act out. Doesnt mean Im doomed, Im just angry. Angry alot. I was told you cant get a job other than paper rounds till you're 16. Which sucked cos i want one...
most of the kids my own age were every bit as fucked up. people grow up. i grew up in the era of drive bys, random stambings, pipe bombs in the hallways of the high school and the highest teenaged pregnancy and drug usage rates in the usa. ah...high school. but you know something? most of us, except for the surprisingly low percentage of people in prison or addicted to drugs, are mostly doing just fine, with jobs, families, and a decent life in front of them.
Yeah thats where youre going wrong John, imo, thinking violence and teaching violence would solve this thing. It would make it a lot, lot worse in the long run. Its not "PC" (i see nothing political or ridiculous about the idea that you shouldnt beat small children, or anyone for that matter) its common sense. Kids immitate. Also theyre human Also, ive known many, many British adults who cant speak English...or any other language, for that matter Im tired and this probably didnt make sense. But kiddies dont need hitting, tempting as this may seem sometimes
Kids are the fundamentally the same as they have been for thousands of years, adults are also fundamentally the same, both with some slight variation around a few cultural parameters. People like J0hn have been complaining that the youth of today is far worse than the youth of a decade or two prior for thousands of years in precisely the same terms. It's just not true and it's frankly somewhat arse-achingly tedious to see this fatuous aphorism passed off again and again as some sort of cultural insight. We all tend to assume our own experiences represent some kind of universal truth but all we have is a teeny tiny peephole onto the vastness of human experience throughout the millenia; think a little beyond the front of your own nose and you will perhaps start to understand that it is your perception which is changing, not the outside world. 'Twas ever thus and ever will be.
when, since the conception of london, has it been safe to walk the streets at night? the only difference now is the number of people, not the personalities or inherent morality levels.
well whatever you think of britain you'd better get used to it yes i'm sure the romans used to complain about their kids. problem is where are the romans - gone. the ancient greeks used to complain about their kids too. they too are gone. i'd say that anyone who's always done a lot of complaining about this problem has disappeared off the radar. for the brits who intend to stay you'll need to band together in like minded groups or perish, that means no ripping each other off, or stealing from each other, bugger all drug taking so you can at least stay coherent to understand and deal with the challanges that will confront you on a daily basis or again you'll just end up like most people.
http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/news/...cameras,+yet+80%+of+crime+unsolved/article.do lol. and with ALL THOSE CAMERAS 80% of crime unsolved...
When a ten year old can go on a public bus and cool as a cucumber kick and smash the back door windows out, successfully shattering the glass across the floor. Next to elderly person who is shaking with shock and other people utterly shocked aswell. But perhaps not as much as the old pensioner. The kid then walks off the bus, puts his hood up and strolls down Brownhill road. Like some mafia guy who has just blown someone away. Then you see that kids aint afraid no more. They know they can't be touched. Kids now have access to wider media on their mobile phones, on freeview, a tv service offering news channels and other bloody violent shows. Increasingly, life is more stressful so parents, not all but some, just don't care. Some parents are just too young and cannot cope or are not even ready to raise kids. This results in neglect. Kids stay out late, kid returns home at 8pm, and the parent cannot be bovvverred. Knife crime on the increase. Nearly all children carry some form of weapon. Most of the time, it is for protection. But once they get into an innocent childish fight, the weapon comes out and before they know it, they have commited murder. But there is those kids who deliberately kill, mame, torture, mutilate those other young kids who perhaps are moral. Have parents who actually give a damn. Gangs are becoming younger and younger, big grown up gangs are now recruiting kids to do some of the dirty stuff, like kill or break into someone's home. Because the adult gang knows, kids cannot be touched. There wont be any prosecution and in a way, Britain is now reflecting the United States. Now British kids use slang like Clic(A gang), Shank(Stab or a home made weapon). The kid thing is just one aspect of this crumbling society. Society in general has no conscience anymore. Every act that thou man does, is one of immorality. There are no morals anymore. I noticed the other day on a bus. How nobody offered their seat to an elderly old man who was hanging on for dear life to some yellow bars. The moral thing or ethical thing would be to offer the seat to that man. But no, I hoped and felt bad that nobody even bovvered to give that seat for that man.I see now that there is no orderly cue at the bus stop. It seems like London in particular is a case of Every person for him/her self. Grocery stores are being wiped out because of Tesco, underselling produce. Bag of tesco value salad potatoes, 26 pence. bag of fam tesco value tomatoes, 56 pence. Milk has been price fixed so our dairy farmers don't get a good wage. They lose income for every litre. The Government, goes and invades Iraq, immoral. Yet the people were willing to vote Labour in. They voted in Tony Blair. They may aswell have voted back Thatcher. Relgion. Now people think immorally toward religion. Islamic religion is now the most hated religions in the UK. Because most Brits of the C of E or Catholic, don't understand and think immoral. This isn't moral. Where the streets are paved in shite. Nobody has the morality to put their trash in the bin. In the next decade, our whole society depends on the very foundation of yesteryear to save Britain from becoming a totally anarchistic, immoral society. Lest we not forget the talk of supercasinoes. Where there is a bet, there is an immorality. And countless lives are destroyed every year by these casino parlours including Rino, Texas holdem lose em, and the Ceasor palaces. Too many homeless people on the street. Many ignore them. They think of them as peasants or sub humans. So we assault them, spit in their ashened faces. Instead of giving him tuppence toward a cup of tea. Or even sparing a few sacred moments to talk to these people. Yet, society is immoral and our actions will one day come home to roost. We are a united Kingdom though. But maybe we should unite not just in Country, but unite back to morality and to each other. To have a little respect for each other and to try and do the right thing. When young people of Europe look toward the UK. They are often shocked and appauled.Terrified and scared of ever coming to Britain. They must think we are the Russia of the eighties, or Beirut. When 2012 happens, we want to give the world a positive image. One that reflects our true society. At the moment, we can only reflect immorality in its rawrest form. I believe schools, parents and the government should promote moral ethics to those kids who will one day be the next government, the police force or infact prime minister. If reincarnation exists, we come back like a cosmic boomerang and face up to our mistakes now. I believe Britain can be saved. But it is a case of when and if. I believe personally that Britain has fallen through the cracks of immorality so deep. It would take a miracle to restore Britain to its better days.
George Orwell had a vision of the future. In his undoubtly best seller, 1984. he had a vision of big brother. Intrusive government that would peer into our bedrooms of our most private of moments. Where nobody would be unwatched and where we will all be the stars of CCTV. How society would lose its morality and how best can thou describe the feeling of an accurate portrayal of the future, than through George Orwell. perhaps if we learn that an action has a reaction. A consequence in itself that may give us eternal or brief discomfort, humiliation and anguish. For perhaps we can better ourselves, then we can better society. Nearly every square inch of London is under CCTV. If you have picked your nose or farted. There is no doubt, the police group in central cctv rooms, are having a very good giggle. The government wastes too much money spying on society. when it should spend the money to build Moral Schools, and campaigns to help young parents, the jobcentre and all institutions of the public domain, including the NHS. Before we dive in and criticise other Countries. First, we must look at ourselves, heal our Country, then go forth and teach other Countries of our own achievements. A student doesnt teach the teacher until the student has learned.
children have been vicious little animals since the dawn of time. it's only the thin veneer of civility that they develop as their frontal cortex develops in their 20's that they learn to behave rationally. and even then, not everyone does. just the vast majority. this has not changed.
