If you're really interested in the hippie lifestyle.

    1. Remember that running away and moving to California will leave you broke and barefoot in the cold.

    2. Eat LSD. (If you so chose.) LSD was the drug of the hippies, but it can be mind blowing and humbling. If you've not eaten LSD, I suggest doing so.

    3. Martin Luther King Jr. once said; "Peace is not merely a distant goal we seek, but the means by which we arrive at that goal." YOU must be peaceful, as peace can only start with the individual.

There's more stuff I can think of, but Tyrson said it best; Just be yourself!

Sorry for answering here; I'm not really an "old hippie," more of an "old soul hippie."

No such thing as Hippies anymore. Chart your own course, make your own path. What we did was our own doing.

The unique forces that created the 60s counter culture were largely driven by war, social injustice and racial hatred. That will hopefully never be repeated. You will do yourself a big favor if you just get an education and a good job....Leave the past alone, if you didn't live it you'll never understand it..The 60s were that unique.

We need to create new paradigms and archetypes..."Hippie" may be an anachronism in today's World, but just being yourself and seeing yourself is a good place to start. It's never to late to dissent from society's norms,or want to change the World. It's still okay to relatively "drop out" and do your own thing. It's my life.No one can stop me from creating my own dream and trying to live it.It doesn't matter how you dress or how you speak...Just express yourself...And let me express myself.

Yeah sure. War, social injustice and racial hatred has ceased to exist.

Nothing bad with being retro. Retro is not a new thing. The early psychedelic musicians dressed old fashioned with cowboy hats and so on. Like the charlatans.

Of course there is some distortion because of the time passed. Everyone thinks so different anyway so what does it matter.

I see sub cultures as something without straight borders. And something you can have as many as you like.

I know some hippies. But you're right that the 60s are gone - although there are amazing scenes these days as well. For one thing there seems to be a psychedelic renaissance unfolding, even as we speak.

    For Summerjasmine:

    1. Check out some psytrance festies.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vn2g3TnKLE"]7 minute Psytrance Documentary - YouTube
I kind of learned to like the music because the scene is so fucking amazing.
Spend time on Isratrance, FB, and just googling around... there are scenes in the midwest, TX, OK, AK, CO, east coast, west coast, Europe, India...

    2. Try really hard to never commit two crimes at the same time, like holding and speeding or using and holding in public.

    3. Avoid unprotected sex except in committed relationships.

    4. Live the beliefs/insights/revelations. Work in service to others. Bake bread, be kind, grow flowers and vegetables, make music, study consciousness.
