so...if i'm half prussian, but prussia doesn't exist anymore, its germany, does that make me half german? or 1/4 polish and 1/4 russian? since thats what prussian means, right?

To Green Faerie; you'll eventually work out your roots which is important and far from impossible but really the question that everyone needs answering is "who am I?" as in who are you?

figguring out by what directions and nations and all that the body you walk arround in came to be is cool. sometimes there is a sense of comaradarie and connectedness among people who share certain hieritages, especially indiginous cultures everywhere.

but other then that last, i don't think your 'pedigree' has a damd thing to do, i mean beyond that, with WHO YOU are, at all.

even half monkey half alien, is basically talking about our bodies, and that (i hope) aligorically. reguardless of other circumstances and situations, including those of our birth and genetic heiritage, we are all basicly just awairnessess, that happen to walk arround in these bodies our parents gave us with which to do so.

we may even have existed before doing so, and may, more or less as likely, do so in some form and sense after.

who we are is what we think in terms of, what we see as most important, even such trivial seaming things as our skills, hobbies, and favorite colors, textures and geometric forms. we can litterally think of ourselves, think of ourselves, in terms we choose to define for ourselves, as well as those we absorb from our familiar and unfamiliar surroundings.

so there is no final absolute answer other then just being an awireness, inhabiting a body, and all those preference things, particularly whatever ones we may feel intrinsicly inclined toward. really its just the awaireness, not ever the body it occupies at all.

I'm half Yugoslavian, but it broke up into loads of little countries. I don't know whether I'm half serbian or Montenegrian. My ma sats she's definately Montenegrian, but her sister considers herself Serbian. They grew up in totally different places, and if you ask my ma where her whole family is actually from, she says Montenegro, but my auntie swears it's Serbia. And sometimes they agree that they have family from everywhere. I mean WTF?!?! Make up your mind!!!

Then on my Dads side is a big mystery, since he was adopted. On his birth certificate, it says his ma is Irish, but it doesn't mention his dad. And his dad couldn't have been Irish because he's dark skinned, so I'm thinking India? Or maybe Polynesia?? Or, or.... damn. Too many possibilities.

And I was born in England, but grew up in Spain.

Then when people ask me where I'm from, I'm not sure what to say. If I say I'm English, they say I don't look it, and then they ask about my parents, which is annoying, because I'm not clear about it myself. But I can't say I'm Spanish, because I just live here, I'm not from here.

So when someone asks me where I'm from (which happens alot) I say Earth. It's accurate enough for me!
