hmmmmmmm i used to really like them alot... alot of their newer stuff doesn't peak my interest... but i can handle listening to it. i still love Rollercoaster... I've got it in my palmpilot to listen to while skateboarding. favorite album was blood sugar sex magic... then they all started coming out of the closet... then for some reason the music got soft and chilled out. i guess they're "ok" by my standards.
I really love them. I love Frusciante as a guitarist as well as Dave Navarro (sp?) on On Hot Minute and then theres Fleas bass which blows me away every time i hear him. Still havent seen them live though
I love 'em. Saw them live in Charlotte with Snoop Dogg; they throw an extremely powerful live show. I recommend seeing them if you ever have the chance.
I think they are amazing, I'm going to see them in June . My favourite album is Blood Sugar Sex Magik. There sound has definately changed and mellowed out but I still love it, without change things just become stale if you catch my drift. John Frusciante is an amazing guitarist!
i've been listening to them for a while and they never seem to disapoint me im hoping to see them once they hit the US which shouldn't be until the end of this year =/
ah man. i'm in love with them at the moment... not just the newer stuff either, early stuff is brilliant. hell, it's all good.
they are headlining Lollapalooza in grant park this august with kanye west . anyone goin to check that out? they are the main reason i septn $130 on a ticket. well them and matt costa. who i will see may 9th anyways
they're alright. I don't think they're very talented, but, what do I know? They sing about the same stuff alot, though. California, many songs with the character Dani in it. Maybe they should make a concept album...
red hot ...i was fan 15 years ago...or even until their '95 One hot minute with superb Dave Navarro... but Frusciante ... no he's inspired and technichally good...but it's just not my style ...this rock funk guitar... i like some other guitarist or songs who mix funk rock guitars...but not him... i was fan of Blood Sugar Sex Magic 'cause there's a plenty of good songwritin' and 'cause i was only 10 and like every little child you follow & listen nearly all what your bigger brothers listen...it's like that when you sleep in the same room... you're in the territory of your bigger brothers... if they were into Mozart i was into Mozart.... if they were into Boys II Men i was into boys singin their cries... But "One of Minute" is different ...definitly dangerous...probably their last fucked up record ,more psyche too...and the style of Navaro more Page-Hendrix oriented...was the good thing... but mainly Red Hot are good if we include all the music in the world...they're in the good side... But i don't like very much those little cool teenagers who listen to their "cool" "in" & "hipe" records... they often don't know a lot about rock n roll so when they discover red hot... it's just like they discover a temple in a muddy town... but adventurous riders knows that there's many others beautiful treasure hidden in other beautiful places without ages ...castles ...tower and beautiful painted houses... in fact houses are music in my mind... And red hot sound like if they were teenagers... why they do not stop playin' actors... this is not hollywood...this is real life... when you're 43 like those old peppers they reprezent history... it's not honnest to act like their 23 y.o children... ...so what will be the next big thing if all "old bands" (more than 40) play like young.... i tell you ...the next big thing will be young bands playin' like old ass with their acoustic guitars in middle west stupid cowboy parties....... at least the peppers don't play nude anymore...
first of all, frusciante's quite obviously influenced by hendrix. secondly i think the chilis just do what they want with music and don't care if you think that they sound like teenagers, they're doing what they want and there is an honesty there that is rare in a lot of records for a long time now. you know if the chilis took your advice not only would they suck they wouldn't be true to the music they wanted to play and that's even worse than music sucking in my opinion. and the nude thing's just funny
yeah you can tell there's a hendrix influence in them. they got that West mello sound to them that i love. you can hear it in hendrix, especially axis: bold as love. someone else who reminds me of hendrix, an acoustic version of hendrix, is jack johnson...listening to him right now. red hot chili peppers are one of the few bands/musicians out there from the younger generation that we can look back at 30 years from now and see that they were more than exceptional.
