What Do You Think of Med Professionals Who Smoke?

I'm curious what people think... How do you feel about a nurse or doctor who was smoking the night before working on you or your family? I've been surprised by people's reactions in the past, even that of drug users. Just curious what HF thought.

 

It wouldn't bother me, as long they were not abusing it, like pills and such.. Cant say I could see that happen with pot though.. Most doctors probably would burn one on the day off or during the evening.. Cant see them blazing a jay on the way to the office.. Unless they was med mal docs and didnt give a fuck..

 

It wouldn't bother me. Weed isn't like other drugs.

 

The effects of Cannabis linger, at longest, 10 hours, so unless they were smoking before work, I wouldn't care. If people are allowed to drink between work ending and going to bed on a night they work the following day, Cannabis should not be a problem.

I wouldn't mind a doctor being blazed off their ass while doing routine things that couldn't hurt me due to being a bit stoned. As long as they still know what they're doing and seem capable and bright, who gives a fuck?

I wouldn't want a surgeon having smoked that day, before operating on me. Or an acupuncturist, or anyone else who does anything sharp near nerves or other very vital bodily systems. But diagnosing problems, giving simple treatments, checkups, etc, as in a standard doctors visit, I could care less.

Beyond that, so long as they can function and do a good job, I don't care at all, just like I don't think people should care if I smoke or take other drugs, as long as I can do my job and do it well. If it doesn't affect anyone else, it's not the business of anyone else.

 

Good point. There is a difference between brain surgery and outpatient psychiatry. Not that one is harder than the other, or "superior", but the fact that one's motor skills are vitally important in the brain surgery and not important except in writing prescriptions for psychiatry. Actually, some psychiatrists I have dealt with would probably be better at their job if they smoked pot often. I wouldn't say that about many brain surgeons.

How would you ever even know? If a doctor had one too many drinks the night before, all the tell-tale signs would be there: bloodshot eyes, the stench of alcohol oozing out of the pores and from their breath, decreased concentration, etc...

You would never even know if a doctor had smoked the night before.

 

i wanna be in the med profession and be able to smoke >.<, pharmacist?

 

A couple of years ago, some friends and i were getting high and we had a good laugh as we realized that having the jobs we have if the pple we see everyday at work could see us all high they would think we were setting a bad example (my friend is a nurse, my other friend is a lawyer, and i'm a teacher). But that was just it, cuz none of us ever actually worked while high.
So yea, a lot of pple smoke weed in their private lives and still have jobs that they take seriously and are good at.
