I don't know much about drugs myself, but I'd like your thoughts and opinions. Drugs (pharmaceutical or recreational, legal or illegal) can often be potentially harmful (ie risk of overdose, addiction, dangerous behaviors, etc). What drugs to you think are the safest, healthiest, most therapeutic, etc and why? My answer, with my limited knowledge, would be Captain Obvious's choice: Marijuana - No addiction, No Irrational or Dangerous Behavior, Negligible and/or Unproven Health Risks and Birth Defect Risks, Therapeutic/Medical Benefits
^but of course there is the factor of finding real/pure LSD Contamination & Misrepresentation are also common risks with drugs
San Pedro cacti (really any mescaline containing cacti) which contains Mescaline, the lengthy preparation process and foul taste of it limit reckless use. It's often considered a more clear headed trip than other traditional hallucinogens, it contains alkaloids that clean your system and are medicinal and the trip has therapeutic potential as well.

The answer is NO! and No its not the shit you wanna heard i know!
can you dial down on the bitch dude? i prescribe you smoke two joints in the morning, and two at night. and maybe two in the afternoon, to help you feel all right
Dude, just cos your doctor says something doesn't mean it's right. A lot of them just tick boxes, make a vague analysis and then dose you with shit. What works on paper doesn't always work in practice.. and plus, you just end up taking a shitload of pills to prolong a mediocre existence instead of actually enjoying yourself and not giving a shit about those extra few years of emotionless life. As with anything though, there are exceptions. And there's also the fact that the pharmaceutical industry is so infatuated with money now its ridiculous.. pain killers for example. Shitloads of them contain codeine(opiate) at levels that will hardly do anything to kill pain, but enough to get you nicely addicted. Nice and steady cash flow right there! Slightly immoral... but who gives a shit, eh? They're doctors! Anyway, I'd say n,n DMT. Created naturally in the body, and although I've never had the opportunity to try it, people say it's pretty hard for most people to abuse because of the intensity of the trip.
Jack and Meaty are very correct. BJ seems to be suffering from a very brainwashed sense of a superiority complex. The general public are not the only ones being lied to and being force fed bullshit propaganda, but the doctors are as well. Doctors don't know everything and they have their own prejudices as well. Firstly, the government will never tell the truth on anything, so I will never trust a single thing that they have to say. Doctors are only repeating government dogma like some little cult follower toadie. Also, the natural products of nature are not drugs, so I don't do drugs. I use some drugs, unfortunately, like tylenol and others for blood pressure and diabetes and other issues, but I don't like having to. Nature's products are far nicer, safer and effective with none of the toxic side effects of the pharmaceutical poisons. I prefer to appreciate what The Goddess and Mother Nature have provided for us. Recreationally, spiritually and medicinally, there are some very healthy and safe offerings. The safest would be cannabis and mushrooms. There is no LD50 on cannabis and the LD50 for mushrooms is so far above what 10 people could consume as to be just about impossible to consume. Opium, when consumed in moderation is also quite safe and an excellent treatment for pain, nausea and exhaustion. And the spirit molecule is also one of the most uplifting and spiritual contributions to mankind from our Goddess. DMT is a natural product given off by the brain, so, adding to it from nature only enhances the experience. Something produced by your own body is just about as safe as it gets. So, I'd say that those 4 are the safest of all the entheogens that we have available. Mescaline from Peyote or San Pedro or Peruvian Torch is also very safe. The discussion I heard by Max Freakout for Fri Mar 23 was an excellent discussion on the usability and normalcy of using various entheogens for health, spirit and recreation. Without a doubt, Cannabis has got to be the safest, most efficacious drug Mother Nature provides for our benefit.
I'd consider any substance that has a long history of human use to be pretty safe. So...mescaline containing cacti, Ayahuasca, Psilocybe Mushrooms, Amanita Muscaria, Marijuana...and maybe LSA seeds (Not sure about these?) The long term effects of a lot of these synthetic research chemicals being pumped out of labs at the moment has yet to be determined, and this uncertainty puts me off trying them. Strongly agree with that ^
Kratom has the pain killing and euphoric effects of an opiate without having to worry about lethal overdose or addiction. Also, you lose your tolerance after going 2-3 days without taking it.
And it can lead to ulcerations in the stomach and is not that difficult to overdose and die. Also can cause Reyes syndrome in children, which results in death. Doesn't sound very safe to me. Assuming we are talking drugs commonly used for recreational purposes then the safest would have to be in descending order of risk of physiological harm; 1. Cannabis (zero chance of overdose) 2. Mushrooms/LSD/DMT (you have to be ridiculously determined to overdose on any of these substances and they have zero physical impact in doses normally used) 3. Mescaline (it is possible to overdose, but rare.) :smilielol5:
Folk medicine is not always right, but several thousand years of experience has given herbalists and shaman leaders a lot of good medicine. Swiss alpine herbs are a treasure trove of medicinals, the tropical forests gave us quinine and willow trees, so common here in the eastern forests provide the raw material for aspirin. If you roam the southwestern deserts, you will find Ephedra plants, sometimes called "Mormon Tea". It is milder stimulant than Asian Ephedra, which may be too strong for most of us. I have had headaches on campouts and a few minutes after chewing the inner bark of willow trees (which have salicylic acid), the headache is gone! So I guess this is my local favorite. But Kava may be the safest natural product out there.
