What band set off your addiction to music? Or what influenced you to start playing/listening to music?
Surrounded by my Beatle loving brother and sisters,it was inevitable.I actually grew up listening to groups like Slade and The Sweet in the Glam Rock era,as well as The Beatles. The Fabs opened my eyes to other 60s groups.Discovering alot of these bands was something else.Something,Im still doing and loving every minute.
As a kid,I preferred the earlier Beatles stuff, but as time wore on,it was Revolver era ,all the way.And now,Strawberry Fields ,with Rain ,a close 2nd,being my favs.
The Monkeys! Yea, I know.... Gimme a break, I was 6 yrs old!....I thought Micky Dolenz was cool.(the drummer) But when I was 8, I heard Jimi Hendrix. So, I asked my parents for an Electric Guitar. I got it, and 3 yrs lessons... The rest, as they say, is history! ZW
I first became "interested" in "music" when I got a Limp Bizkit CD in 5th grade. A couple of random metal bands got me interested in music: Iced Earth and Shadows Fall.
My Momma is a music teacher.. Teaches private voice and piano lessons.. I grew up loving classical music and broadway.. hehe. Middle school my brother introduced me more of the stuff I listen to today.. Led Zepp, Metallica.. etc. I remember he was a big Slipknot fan.. I still have a softness for them.
Lmao. I never thought id hear another forumer say the words limp and bizkit in the same sentence. I love their music but their vocals and lyrics can, at times, drive you insane.
I dont remember what band first got me interested in music. Probably wasnt one as I think it is just normal for anyone to get interested to listen to music. Now, as for what band influenced me in playing, well that would be Deep Purple/Rainbow and Ritchie Blackmore. Afterall, my band was called Stargazer, named after a fav song of mine from Rainbow.
Hey,dont worry about The Monkees.I STILL listen to them on occasions.Pleasant Valley Sunday and Daily Nightly are good songs.
Cool!" Last train to Clarksville" and "I'm not your steppin' stone" are my faves! ( Damn, I did misspell the band name, didn't I... ZW
my brother spent every saturday making me listen to zeppelin/hendrix/etc..... at first i hated it then i started borrowing his iPod and cds.... never went back to "todays" music just good old ROCK AND ROLL for me! haha good memories
The soundtrack to their film Head, isnt bad,tho theres only 6 0r 7 songs on the album. The rest of the record is filled with dialogue.
My friend Chris turned me on tho the Beatles and Led Zeppelin and ever since they've been my favourite bands. And Mr. Kite, I'm a big fan of your Smiley Lennon picture
I started to get seriously into music with Iron Maiden, Metallica and Black Sabbath in the early nineties. Took me about ten years before my main interest moved from metal to other genres
