We're getting there, though.

 

I think most people by the time they get into any group, will be doing a lot of stupid things. But I've been all around, and people are pretty much the same everywhere you go. And generally pretty cool on a person by person basis.

But all these groups suck. And then they fight about it.

OK I admit it, we envy you. For this huge list of reasons:-

1)Your country is bankrupt. Not just slightly, but a whole national Enron style bankruptcy.
2)Your middle class has disappeared. And the rest of you are on benefit or working 70 hrs a week, zero holidays, for a Mexican immigrant.
3)Your idea of healthy food is GM McDonalds.
4)Your idea of a nice house is a trailer park/tent city.
5)Your idea of culture is a fat, black, lesbian called Winfrey.
6)Your last President had an IQ of a hamster's shit. But he fooled most of you into thinking some A-rabs blew up the WTC. Not his own party.
7)Most of you cant afford health insurance. And if you can, its geared towards bankrupting u, rather than healing u anyway.
8)Your idea of social structure is letting transsexuals adopt kids. And bombing schools that teach the theory of evolution.
8)If you're young, your idea of being successful is going to college, getting 1/4m USD in debt, then flipping burgers for 10 years.
9)You spent 2 trillion and thousands of American lives to hand Afghanistan back to the Taliban, and turn Iraq from anti-Al Qaeda into staunch allies of them. Then you ask NATO and beg Russia to help you out.

1)Yes we're bankrupt but in the past we've managed to crawl out from the depths of one depression and several recessions including the energy crisis of the late 1970s and were stronger for it.

2)The middle-class has simply taken a holiday until the economy improves

3)While McDonald’s isn't exactly the healthiest food it tastes pretty good, its cheap, convenient, and plentiful

4)While I don’t deny there are trailer parks scattered around the united states, several in recent years have been destroyed by tornadoes reducing their numbers

5)Oprah is no longer on network TV and good riddance to her and her minions

6)Our former president GB is currently out of circulation and isn't likely to make a comeback anytime soon

7)Obamacare was geared towards helping the other 45 million Americans without health insurance

Yeah that's true, it's not good to get stuck in the past. I even have a tattoo that says that. But either way, the relations fell apart somewhere along the line and it does have most to do with the foreign policy we can't control and corporate agendas we can't control. There are a lot of ignorant people spread throughout this country, but also a lot of us who are proud of where we are from and frustrated at those same things. Then a lot who hate everything about it here but still live here anyway.

For what it's worth I'm seeing a lot of people around me waking up to the corruption, people you would never expect. I'm also seeing more localized thinking ie people realizing how we can all move forward is by collaborating and working together, everyone has their strengths to offer even if they don't know it. And if and when that happens on a global level there will be great progress regardless of gov't and corporations.

And I also agree about the puzzle. For example with what I do fixing cars, I work on a lot of American cars, Japanese and Korean cars, and European. On the macro scale they are all the same, but on the micro scale they all have different things I love and hate about them. Take Volvos, I love how they are engineered and how they come apart and go back together, also their road feel, but their wiring and trim is subpar in comparison to a Toyota. German cars are over-engineered to the point of stupidity, though it is fascinating technology. Domestics, like a Chevy or Dodge truck, I love because they are effective and reliable and you can beat the shit out of them as long as you keep them maintained. And for example Ford and GM has been taking cues from high end European cars and incorporating direct injection and turbochargers into their new stuff, which is super exciting to me. So for someone who loves cars I see the value in all the cars of the world. Except British haha, those are just complete piles of shit. :2thumbsup:
