What I HATE about certain Christians

Okay guys as you know I'm a Christian who's somewhat fundamental. There's something going on though that I see more and more that I really need to vent about.

I work at a call center for people dealing with crisis. There's SO many Christians who call up and think prayer ALONE will get them out of any mess. Then when they have answered prayers they don't even realize it!

Example: Lady dealing with depression calls up. She's NOT taking meds or seeing a therapist. An untrained minister is "helping" her through her problem. She doesn't understand why God is ignoring her problem. AAAAGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

First off I have a STRONG belief in Christianity. The problem is people don't realize when they're blessed! You live in a day and age where you CAN take medicine that will help you feel better. Why make yourself suffer for no reason?

Secondly, while I believe the Bible is fundamental in my daily life...YOU CAN'T CUT HAIR WITH IT! Sometimes you need to make use of the best tools for a job. While I'm not saying put down the Bible, I am saying look for answers for your SPECIFIC problem. Whether it be mental or physical.

I almost feel like people who are helping those in need have a duty to find them appropriate help. Something that doesn't happen as often as it should. I'd like to know how everyone feels about this. Christian and non alike. Thanks.

 

I guess I can kind of see where you're coming from. Those people that seem to be spewing "WWJD" bumper stickers, fish symbols and crosses from every orifice.

 

I thought "hate' was something you weren't supposed to do. What happened to "Love thy neighbor"? What would Jesus say? You're exactly the kind of Christian that gives ALL Christians a bad name. "God is love, Jesus taught love, but I hate these people...

You have asserted that religion only provides the illusion of shelter, but you have not actually explained why you believe the shelter that it provides for people is an illusion. What is it that you think religious people are sheltering from? In order to argue that religion only provides the illusion of shelter, rather than shelter itself, you would have to argue that what religion shelters a person from will not be repelled by religion - otherwise, it is not an illusion at all, since it provides as much shelter as it is expected to.

 

Well, technically Poland is mainly Roman Catholic, but yea I but the dummy who made those invention was Christian :tongue:

You have not mentioned what Christians are supposedly sheltering from, nor why the shelter offered by religion is an illusion that fails to provide genuine shelter from this.

Wealth should not and is not a measurement of how "good" something is. if anything it is the opposite.

He said that it had failed miserably, and I was pointing out that in fact it has prospered immensley, how you want to interpret that is a matter of opinion but I never once said that it is a 'good' thing, simply a true fact. I am far from being a Christian but when it comes to good business tactics, no matter how low a blow goes in order to turn a profit, well, I dont think anyone has to be a pro in order to observe such happenings.

WOW are you high! LOL First off I'm not 100% on what you said. I'm not sure I'm 50%. I think you're saying because I disagree with something someone of my religion does so I'm not part of that religion? Man this sucks. It's like arguing with Barney.

 

They might be expecting guidance or help from the "messengers" (kind of ) of a God who has created Earth, the universe, and us according to the Bible before turning to medication.

 

Reread my first post Hippo. I tend to believe modern science is an answer to prayers at times.
