What is a drug?

Why is it that some people regard Cocaine, Heroin, and Ecstacy as hard drugs, yet don't even consider Cannabis, or psychedelics as drugs?

But it makes ya high, changes your mood, all because you smoked it.

I think most people consider the term "hard drugs" to mean drugs that are addictive and ones you can OD on.

 

So why arn't Cannabis and psychedelics considered as drugs? Because there is an LD50 to every drug. What makes them softer than the harder drugs?

 

they are...just not "hard" ones. I know there a lot of pot heads that will say over and over again that pot is'nt a drug...but that's just because they're stupid pot heads. I don't consider pot or psychdelics "hard" but they are drugs .

 

Oh, sorry. I don't mean the difference between soft and hard drugs, but more so on why people don't consider some soft drugs as drugs at all...If you know what I mean?:tongue:

lsd is a drug absolutely.. but not a hard drug, although a powerful one
mushrooms and peyote are sacrements, spiritual shamanistic tools for opening oneself to the infinate

hard drugs, are piosions you take to get high or to supress internal/external pain
alcahol is a hard drug
chocolate although its technicaly a drug just like cafeine has been almost accepted into the realm of food

 

You should write your own definitions in life....rather than go along with what other people say. I believe everything is different for everyone, you shouldn't say someone is wrong just because you don't concur. But thats just me

Cocaine is processed in a lab with nasty chemicals. Weed is natural.

 

made from...made into piosions..so they qualify as drugs..hard drugs
