I know that Skip had written something similar to this on the old site...but I thought I'd share with you this one that my friend had shared with me...enjoy: "One who takes pride in themselves and their simplest, most effective abilities. This gave birth to arts and crafts inherent in music, beads, leather, dyes... The things now FOOLISHLY judged as stereotypes, but actually evidence that all people were capable of expressing universally-appreciable artworks. One who would rather speak than fight, but will do so if necessary - evidence of higher thinking to solve problems in peaceful ways, and physical backing to be called in if needed. One who would rather think beyond the framework limitations imposed by man's "convenient" sociolegal systems (Baaaa-a-a-a! Baaa-a-a-a-!) One who would rather offer a creative solution than be part of a problem. One who sees less harm in a bong than in a bomb. One who would rather work in harmony with the world rather than destroy it trying to control it. One who is willing to take great strides to maintain that harmony, even beyond the scope of the hippie community. One who will allow another their choice, as long as it deprives noone else of theirs. One who would live for the purpose of living instead of living in preparation of death. One who would rather open a mind with possibilities before closing it with limitations. One who would proudly be themselves the best they can with what they have instead of trying to be someone else with what they DON'T have. One who would hope and help another to do the same. One who would love another until given a reason not to instead of assuming the person to be unlovable. One who has more Jesus/Ghandi/King/Muhammad in their lives than exists in any stack of bricks called a church/cathedral/temple. One who lives by the words of the prayer "Serenity." One who would rather take harm upon themselves before harming another. One who forgives their faults and those of others, seeking to correct them instead of damn them forever. One who can be who they are and allow others to be the same, if in a different way. One who demands and expects rights and acknowledges that they must not tread on the rights of others. One who can teach as well as learn, who speaks as well as listens, who is as strong as gentle. One of the Meek who shall inherit the earth, the blessed that shall be spat upon, and who shall persevere through time and hate and hell and keep going strong. One who is indifferent without material to judge by. The list could go on and on: Hippies are a great many things (or maybe a many GREAT things...) I would be proud to call myself a Hippie, knowing I'm not perfect but still trying."- David Alan Rath
PEace, whats a 'hippie'. easy its a name! used to generalize people into category to judge by. later the tired flower child
Yeah, that makes since. A hippie is someone who knows they aren't perfect, but keeps on trying. A person who feels love and peace over anything. That's a hippie.
Peace man, you know calling one a name really is the easy way but its ok. i will use it for now anyway. a hipster is one who listens to themselves and be theselves. thas a 'hippie' but do remember that the name was used to describe the people protesting the vietnam war. so be careful how you use it. because do you really think it was only hipsters protesting? it was a illegal and imoral war. many protested. i am tired right now. i got some sleep but still need to sleep alot more. wish me luck again! but keep in mind while searching for youselves try to dig the good part of you not the bad ( it helps alot ) later the tired flwoer child
-.- your intellectuality amazes me. you are superior with your extended vocabulary consisting of words such: "HAHAHA" and "BITCH!"
