I'm an admitted computer imbecile, so I'm asking this dumb-ass question: how does a "sticky thread" differ from a regular thread?

I notice that most of these "stickies" get few replies.

So, what's up, dudes? (As you young dudes like to say.)

Just curious as usual-- Signed, Thudly.

A non-moving thread...a thread that stays at the top so that it can be read by everyone without getting lost...usually important info. about forum rules, and what not.

it is like a post-it note (sticky note) on the forum. Imagine the screen id your fridge door and you have a note about something important. You'd place it at the top of your viewing area.
that's what sticking and unsticking threads does: keeps them at the top until they are not needed. Events uses this a lot for the big-deal festies coming up so that people can find the thread and not start a zillion of them.

So, therefore, every swinging dick that feels he has an "important" message can have a "sticky"

Doesn't that damn near include damn near everone?

Thudly my man, it's just just an advertisement for the thread, like a sign on the Beer Store door ' No Shoes, No Shirt, No Service or the sign pointing to the mens room, kinda thing. I wouldn't lose to much sleep pondering it's excistance if I were you.
If you keep one foot on the floor the room will stop spinin'...

Actually, UnbredHeifer, some of these "stickies" have been hanging on for months, with no traffic whatsoever. Not that I really give a shit.

I used to go on a Sunday (years ago when the bars were closed) to my favorite bars while the owners were cleaning the coils. I went in the ladies room, and used to write on the walls, "Burl is a great fuck!", "Burl eats champion pussy!"

I don't know if that helped, but I never went lacking poontang in those glorious-long-gone days.

(I just somehow know Ms. Teepi would not only have been excited by such graffitti, but would have probably painted it.)
