I keep hearing a blip on my phone calls. On my landline sometimes. And it is always a telemarketer. (Sometimes I don't hear a blip and it's still a telemarketer, but it's a scam that time.) Is the blip required for telemarketer calls? Because if it is that would be a good time to hang up.
It means the line is being recorded or monitored by others. In the case of telemarketers, they are carefully monitored by their managers who listen in on their calls or record them for review later. Telemarketers have to sell or they're worthless and since they get commissions, listening to their calls helps determine if they're good at the job. Just like any biz these days, employees are supposed to meet goals and everything they do is scrutinized either by supervisors or AI now
