Some would suggest that it's living and that it's consciousness is in the most basic form, simply "being", with no self-awareness.

  4. Maybe there's no way of knowing. There is a philosophy surrounding this issue called panpsychism, which I personally subscribe to.

isn't awareness exclusively a "living" function?

I guess a lump of coal is aware of the tremendous pressure it's under, so it becomes even harder than the external pressure to compensate, becoming a diamond.

A mummy is aware it was dug up after 5000 years and responds by turning to dust.

Or maybe that's just its response I don't know but that's an interesting thought.

it is self existant. i think that in the most subtle of realms, everything holds a vibration...a sound or frequency. any independant vibration ripples out and interacts with that it comes into contact with. the rock is what it is, but i think there is alot more happening on a very subtle level that we have a hard time being tuned into.
at this point, im my own reality, things like "mountain spirits" "or tree spirits" or anykind of devic force are very real to me. these things hold energy, and change everything they touch. iv gotten past the point within myself of questioning my sanity, in regards to these sort of things. to be completely honest i have a number of stones i regularly sit and meditate with, in an act of communication. plants as well. this isnt nessesarily the kind of thing i often speak about. i know full well that i may appear ecsentric or crazy, lol

Thats pretty stupid question. A rock had no awareness just like we have no awareness after we die.

i dont think inaminate objects have an "ego"
so in they fruedian sense, i don't really think they have a conciousness.
would be cool if they did though :)

  10. Well, in terms of chemicals, what is there to suggest that only the chemicals that make up brains have any sort of being? The exchange amongst the chemicals in a rock could have a purely unique "being" to them.

Is there a such thing as a strong unawareness?...isnt it a person is aware and then the levels of awareness continue going up, like Ghandi Awareness and thewould be considered a level n offcourse Jesus.....A unaware person would be someone Rosie O'Donnel or Barbra Walters right?, both of them would be considered unaware in the spiritual aware world...Well i take back rosie, shes such a nice giving bisexual

A rock is most definatly not unaware, Does anyone know if earth is aware or not?

Maybe i went completely off-topic, iam just trying to have input

What is the awareness of a person?

  17. I think there is individual awareness. Like, there is Rosie O' Donnell awareness, and Barbara Streisand Awareness, Ghandi awareness, etc.

<<< What is the awareness of the "unliving world"? >>>

What if everything is energy and living, be it organic or non-organic.

I imagine the physical world (including our brains, and their chemistry) is like a stream of vibrations that rises from a more subtle, non-physical reality; where the difference is not so much between organic and non-organic, but in the individual expression ... like you are creating a certain vibration that makes it so you live as a human on planet Earth, in the awesome communication age, and make such and such experience. We are not the physical body though. But then, the physical body has its own awareness and its own life (and communicates with you all the time; and sometimes you get the message) - like a bundled wave of entities, a ballroom of waltzing atoms, neutrons, and quarks, of music, rhythm, and of joy; and in some mysterious way they all connect.
So, each little corner of the universe is alive, a vibration of myriad strings, waves, and ripples intertwining and interchanging - just some may appear darker or just not alive to our own experience.
As we run across worlds all the time that seem dead or not present, or just apart, and harder than a rock wall then, asking us for nothing but to understand. This, too, is part of the living experience I guess, of becoming more aware.

    Just thoughts.

I think it's important not to try to establish the level of someone's awareness based on their public figure. You can never really know unless you really feel the energy of a person, by interacting with them face to face.
As far as humans go, there are of course different levels. Some humans are more aware than others. All humans are more aware than a rock.
