Is it a myth? Is it real? I'd like to know everyones opinion on this, I'll share mine after we get some posts.
spinning around in circles when you are young.. that's the real gateway drug.... when you are young... you think "wow this makes me feel great!"
its the gripe water your mom gave you when you were 3 months old Ingredients: A Homeopathic Blend of Chamomile, Fennel, Caraway, Peppermint, Ginger, Aloe, Lemon Balm, Blackthorn and Vegetable Charcoal.
The gateway drug aka pot is something that keeps alot of ppl from voting to legalize it, they think that first you try pot and it leads to harder drugs. I personally started with tobacco then alcohol then pot.
The idea has been around for a long time, and there are well developed ideas and opinions on the matter. I personally, agree that it is a gateway drug/gateway experience. Firstly, because to get it, you are exposed to dealers, who usually also sell other drugs. In a store, you are exposed to various things, so if you drink, you may eventually try the smokes which are right next to the shelf. The other thought is due to the experience of being high... Kinda like woah, this shit is not so bad, wtf is the government/parents/teachers talking about? You begin questioning things and developing as a person, trying out other new experiences and hopefully beginning to think for yourself. Curiosity is not a sin.
These are my thoughts exactly, and I do believe it is the gateway drug but only b/c it is classified with drugs like heroin and cocaine and other harmful drugs.
theres no fuckin doubt a gateway drug and in most cases its weed. mr.greenx hit it dead on the fuckin spot thats exactly what i think. youve gotta be in denial to beleive that weed didnt open your mind to other things(if it was the first thing you tried) like in my case
I don't think lack of self control is the reason for experimenting with new drugs. I've never seen a drug I couldn't of easily said no way man if I've never tried it. But since I wanted to be able to judge things for myself I tried it. I just think that weed is usually the first mind altering substance besides alcohol that is introduced to you at a young age, and with the way it is categorized with harder drugs it helps create further experimentation.
what about coffee , i know that i smoke cigs more when i drink coffee , it is just as addicting as other drugs and it is legal as all , i can drink like 2 pots of coffee or more a day . and me my first drug was caffine then , cigs then , alchol , then pot , and lastly now i am on a psyc med that he docs have me on that is addicting and has bad sideeffects when u go into detox. so in all i feel that gateway is a term that was started to keep good christians from becoming what most would say druggies , i on the oher hand say as long as u dont od or kill ur self then explore , peace be w u
Good point, pharmeceuticals are the most misleading drug out there. You will have ppl down you for smoking pot that take hydrocodone for a backache which is more harmful. I got hooked on hillbilly heroin/oxy's for 3yrs b/c I didn't realize it was synthetic heroin until after I was addicted. Clean now, and yes detox is a bitch :cheers2:
Well wanting to experment and drugs completly taking you over is completly different. Its all about self control and moderation.
i think it's the gateway drug BECAUSE it is illegal... kids think, (including myself in the past, but now i know better, and i don't mean like think directly this, but it has the same end result), hey, pot isn't bad for you at all! and it's illegal, there must be more like this that are illegal.
I voted that it was a myth but in real life alcohol is really most peoples first experience on getting high. Yet, drunk.
