What is this thing?

    My friend found this little lizard type thing outside in a big pool of water and we put him in the fish tank.

    He swims around and we got a big rock thing that floats on the surface for when he needs air.

    I think he might be a salamander or a newt. How could I find out?

    sorry. I don't have any pics. It's not even mine. We just want to know exectly what it is so we can feed it properly.

    you could just set it free so that it can live a natural life instead of imprisoning it. I hate to see anything in a cage!

    It's a newt! I used to have a bunch when I was little. They're cool little things.
