Mason is scared of the vent in his room. He thinks there are things that wil come out of the tubes. We have a vent in the bathrom that is uncovered on the ceeling and it scares him. He was scared for like one night of things under his bed but I told him his stuffed animals were under there and they were keeping him safe and it worked great. He gets scared of me leaving the house at night while he's sleeping. He never wakes up with night terrors or anything.
Dakota was terrified of the fireworks on the Fourth of July. When he finally unburied his face from my neck, he looked at me and said, "I not like that." He gets a bit afraid of noises when he doesn't know where they come from. But that's about it. Kathi
kai's afraid of loud noises and "bad boys." which is to say, the boys that get too rowdy and yell at her and grab at her and stuff. she doesn't want to go to her favorite park anymore because the last time we were there, this 11 or 12 year old boy would wait on the slide she used, and when she'd appear to try to go down the little slide, he jump at her and scream his lungs out at her until she cried. he did it twice, to the point that my daughter was shaking, and his parents, who were RIGHT THERE did nothing. yeah, so now she doesn't ever want to go there ever again. so i guess you can add tubular play centers to the list now. fucking assholes.
Croix is scared of "nakes" (snakes!) and Noah is scared of the dark. I have no idea where the snake thing came from but he now plays snake hunter and bites off imaginary snake's heads... not sure if this is good? I think so as long as it keeps him confident. He used to scream and run around and jump up on the couch screaming about snakes biting at him. Now he pounces em and bites their heads off. Hes a silly little boy. Noah is scared of almost everything lol. He hated water and bathtime for the longest time but hes now better about that. Hes still scared of the soap though, lol. He hates the dark I think out of everything, the most. No nightlight=no sleep for anyone!
my baby boy, skyler is only 2 months old, but hes afraid of the dark if he has hiccups. its real cute.
As a child I used to be scared of dogs. That came out of nowhere, was never attacked by one or anything. Even tiny friendly lapdogs would freak me out. No idea what snapped me out of it, but for the last few years I've been fine around them. Apart from like huge dobermans and such. Had no other real fears though, from what I can remember. Was quite a strange child, used to like all those 'scary things', especially loud noises; thunder storms, explosions on TV, fireworks. I still love those My brother used to be scared of dogs too. Now he's 16, and doesn't really have phobias as such, but gets totally paranoid and worked up over stuff. He's started doing this new course (kinda like college) and after the first day was freaking out over what if he failed/didn't like/got lost etc.
im scared of dogs too. im afraid theyre going to attack me like lions attack prey and just rip me apart. dont think ill ever get over it.
Sage is afraid of dark rooms. And vampires. She's 5 years old. A month or so ago she went through a Monster phase. "I can't go into the kitchen there might be a monster in there." Then she morphed it into vampires. She also hates spiders. My dd Moon was afraid of "Tutus" when she was about two years old. She got a tutu for Christmas and was terrified of it. She wouldn't go into her room alone "In case there is a tutu in there." ALthough she would pick up and play with snakes and spiders. I don't remember Sunshine being afraid of anything much. Probably Monsters. Lennon was afraid of spiders, but he isn't now (he's 14.)
i guess sometimes we unknowingly set the seeds for a fear to grow in our children.... i once heard of a kid who grew up terrified of the Draft..a monster that he thought would come in through the bedroom window... and all because every night his mum would come into his bedroom at night and close the window so 'The Draft' couldnt get in.....!!!
my two older ones are scared of spiders and cockroachs. when we lived at my moms house there was a cockroach in a drawer in the garage. my son had opened the drawer and the bug just sorta flopped out. i never seen my son so pale. my youngest is scared of robots. we have a remote control robot that i've had to hide in the top of the closet because she gets so scared she won't go upstairs if she knows it's up there. other than that.. nothing. we're big horror movie fans. my kids love zombies and anything thing else that is supposed to be scary. we rent scary movies and laugh. when my son was about 2 we rented "evil dead". after the movie was over. i asked him, "was that movie scary to you?" .. with a completely serious face he says "FUCK YEAH!" .. hehehe i didn't even know he knew how to use that word.
ah, yeah. kai hates any toys that talk, unless it's her leapfrog books. books can talk, baby dolls can't. i agree with her wholeheartedly on that. talking dolls STILL give me the willies. and mean faces. she's not used to mean faces, like when you're mad. it's just awful.
it was weird, but when my daughter was about 20 months old, she went through a phase where she was afraid of BIRDS
When I was a kid I was afraid of witches (the story-book kind, not wiccans ) and other monsters. I think first my parents tried to tell me (like most adults will) that monsters don't exist, but of course that doesn't help at all when you're just little... so then my dad said something like, hey, maybe there is a witch but she is a good witch, not an evil witch. I was willing to believe that, and for many years I was unafraid of monsters because not only was the witch okay, but I also felt she'd protect me from other monsters! I am still a great fan of horror books and movies with witches, vampires etc, especially those where the vampires & witches are the good guys. I guess quite a few parents -especially those whose (Christian?) belief goes against such things- would not want to use this method, but it sure worked for me.
When I was a kid, I was terribly afraid, that there are bad things under my bed, so I would never go there, out of fear that I might get stuck or those things might grab me.... A few years later I found this in my biology book, and I knew, I was right........... It's a tiny insect-like creature, responsible for dust-allergies, their favorite plkaces are...BEDs!!!!!!!!! They are living off of tiny flakes of skin. just don't know their name in english...
All of my daughters went through a stage were they were frightened by thunderstorms. I am not sure where it came from. Their mom and I love the lightshows. After six months to a year, they all got over it.
Ryvre is afriad of tall buildings. He's never been in one, but when we drive by one, he says that it scares him. Must be past life regression, lol. Willow is afraid of things that glow in the dark. She had a spongebob bandaid on once, and when she climbed into bed with me, she starting freaking out. It took me awhile to figure it out. She didn't want to take it off though, because she loves spongebob, so we had to cover it with a regular bandaid, lol. She's also afraid of being "tied up" (while playing; we don't actually tie her to a chair or anything, lol) or held down in any way. I don't blame her; i really hate that too.
Kasten, those are Dust Mites in English. Microscopic horrors. But not much you can do about them, except wash your bedding a LOT! I forgot. My Sage was afraid of Robots, also. "I can't go intot he bathroom, there might be robots in there." We don't even have any robot toys. Weird. Oh, my 17 yr old Moon said, "Tell them I'm afraid of Republicans." LOL! That kid.
I love it!! when Meleah was about 2, she told my dad that she didn't like "publicans" because they were stinky! Now, at 7, she is afraid of frogs, tall staircases and piers. She used to love the pier. When we lived in NC she loved to go to the pier and look over the side at the water. Then, we made the mistake of going on the Wrightsville Beach pier in the rain. Ever since, she won't set foot on a pier. I am not sure where the fear of frogs and staircases came from.
