a gaff?? i love the hit british show the ali g show, and on one of the first episodes when he started coming to the u.s., he was talking with an fbi agent and asked if they would do a "gaff" on someones head. at least, i think that is what he said. i know that british slang for house is a gaff, much like crib is house in the u.s.(maybe it is there also, i dont know) but common sense told me that it didnt sound right so i figured that there had to be another meaing. i figured that if i could find out anywhere, that the best thing to do would be to ask an actual british person, so if anyone could tell me, it would be great.
odd generally I would think slang term for place to live or possibly the iron hook thing you use on the end of a wooden pole in sailing maybe a type of spare thats attached to the mast in sailing . so I looked it up and two of the other possibles that Ive never heard are Slang. A trick or gimmick, especially one used in a swindle or to rig a game. Slang. Harshness of treatment; abuse This has quite a few definitions of gaff http://www.answers.com/topic/gaff
