I'm not sure if this is already a thread. I tried to search for it but didn't come up with anything. Anyway, I was wondering what made everyone here get dreadlocks? I personally love the hair style and had had long hair for about 6 years and I was tired of it. I decided I was gonna cut my hair off because it was getting in the way too much but then I had a wonderful idea. I decided to give dreads a shot. I am very happy with mine. I did them the backcombed method. I regrettably used wax at first but I guess it did help keep them together the first couple of weeks. However, I haven't used any since the first day. Please tell me about your experiences and what made you get dreads.
I saw thread after thread with the same theme "why did you get dreads?" I was so sick of being unable to write about why I didn't have dreads, I thought I'd get dreads just so I can post about why I got them Moral of the story, nice concept for a thread
I have ultra curly, coarse hair. I simply got tired of fighting it everyday. Plus, I hated spending my money on Sodium Lauryl Sulfate.
my hair always looked like shite spent too many hours straightening it every day also part of it was wanting to distance myself from the conservative bible thumping middle class masses that make up the majority where I live I really need to move somewhere more progressive!
i think the original poster should just go through the threads more carefully or they'll continue to get answers like this^
something just occurred to me why do you care why someone gets dreads? I really use to think asking why someone got dreads was a good idea now it just seems dumb
why do you care if he wants to know why she wants to know why the op cares why someone else got dreads?
i got dreads cuz i wanted to add more volume to my hair and i like the feel of them also i was bored of my bone straight hair.
