I am from Sydney Australia and recently smoked some DMT for the 1st time.
The DMT I smoked looked quite alot like pot leafs chopped up (Dark green) with some lighter tan coloured strands in there as well. The smell was quite faint (not strong like pot) and had a kid of minty/aniseed smell.

The effects after the first bong were just feeling a little bit weird. But the second Bong was FULL ON. After blowing out the smoke it felt like i was shot out of a canon! Everything went like a kalidescope and sparkled brightly... this went for a few mins then i was back at baseline again.

Anyway, from what ive been reading about DMT it seems smoking the DMT plant material is pointless cause you need so much of it so everyone extracts it. I dont understand cause everyone I know in Sydney smokes this plant material and let me tell you... IT WORKS!

I would love to know what the actual plant is called that I smoked for research purposes.

    Any help appreciated!

are you sure it wasn't salvia divinorum? I mean you said yourself that most plants containing DMT won't work if you smoke them.

Pretty sure, All the symptoms of everyone i know who had it point towards DMT and it is being sold as DMT but yeah, i wont rule salvia out just yet.

Im guessing it could be the Australian grass "Phalaris Aquatica AQ 1"

I'm no expert on DMT though.

nahhh, me neither, i'm very curious to try it once though. the feeling of being shot out of a canon pops up in quite a number of trip reports though. but i'm afraid can't really help you dude.

interesting but wouldn't the heat still fuck up the dmt? or did you still vaporize it?

It is intriguing, but I couldn't be bothered extracting DMT while I live with my mom. D=

DMT is seldom found in crystal form because it has such a low m.p.

I agree, i think it might be salvia mixed/laced with dmt.
Dmt is much more potent, and the effects are simular to dmt, and the duration.
Its also alot cheaper and easier to come by than dmt, so i could understand it.
You still could probably have a good trip, theres probably alot of dmt in there..
did it smell like mothballs, or a shoe store ? maybe burning plastic?
then yea its dmt, i could tell by the taste very quick if it was indeed salvia.
    good luck.
btw, how much did you pay for a gram of that?
