What shitty festivals does your town put on?

Maybe they aren't so shitty... But anyways...What little festivals do your towns put on every year?


Mine does... Fishfestrolleyes: It's a fishing town... a summer touristy fishing beach town) and... there is also a friendship festival.

 

We just had the north ga apple fest, at best a big flea market with a six dollar gate fee.

Oh I forgot, we also have the county fair. Its f-ing huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge. We actually get a day off for it in school. Just to go to the fair and whatnot. It's awesome.

 

none, we have an awesome rafting fest in may, a bluegrass one in july, and a brewfest in early october

Homecoming... and Sternwheeler... neither one are too exciting unless they have someone good booked to perform - oh and the fireworks

 

IN my town we have the Mayfly Festival...it sucks. I mean, who celebrates a bug that is incredibly ANNOYING??

WE also have HarvestFest. It's sort of an old school kinda festival. The Native American tribe in the area have campouts and everything. It's kinda cool.

 

we have the boston harborfest...its been getting shittier each year. the only good thign about it is July 4th on the esplanade...everything else during harborfest week pretty much sucks now-a-days. used to be good when i was younger.

GREAT amplitheature..

the music ranges from latino, salsa, polka, jam, jazz, blue grass, blues..

not every show is outta this world....

but some are and most are at least decent.

 

dont you also have friday the 13ths?

we only have a winter fest at the pond
a few years ago the stage fell through the ice, so they keep it on land now

 

Tech Fest is the only one i know of..
Probably some jazz and blues fests

 

things like, Fishers Freedom Festival, Renaissance Festival...its crap..if you are rich and a soccer mom then youd have a great time...and they block off the roads and that pisses me off...

 

My county has the Manatee festival.....guess what the theme of that one is.....

 

"Toadstock" it's a crappy "local" concert..... in a 70 person max venue.

 

We have Chilifest.....were you can taste different chili recipes from restaurants around town...

There is a Blues Festival, Dan Aykroyd started that here a few years back...Sometimes he sings with a group or two...

The Sheep Dog Trials... I've never been, but I am sure it must be stimulating...

We also have a few "art in the park" type gigs...where local artists have booths set up, there is a farmers/art market every other day in Market Square, and flea markets on Sundays & holidays.

 

I miss Seattle where they have all kinds of shit. Bite of Seattle, Octo-beer-fest, etc.

we used to have a beer festival thing - but that got taken away. They do a film festival where they place shite films on a big open air screen - thats cool when stoned lol. dunno what else my area is shite

 

Oh yeah, and this year for Queen's University Homecoming, they had a riot...literally.....

-blocked off a street with a couple thousand drunk people

-stole a car, flipped it upside down and set it on fire

-threw beer bottles at firefighters, police and paramedics, who were trying to get in to save a girl who nearly died from aclohol poisoning

Nice work.... I hear they (students) are threatening to have a "bigger and better" party next year, seeing as "they own this town".....the police are planning to have a riot squad there next year...tear gas and hoses....what fun...
