Thailand doesn't officially celebrate Christmas, but many schools have a program at school on that day. I haven't celebrated Christmas since I left the US in 2010..burned out from too much work doing it in the US. My 6th grade Thai students put on the Christmas story play for our main school program yesterday (Dec. 25 in Thailand is a day early because of time zones). Writing, directing, working with the play made Christmas real to me..especially when I saw them on the stage. I was so proud. And suddenly, Christmas was real. And I got tears in my eyes from the power of the story, being put on by Buddhist non-English speaking 6th graders. So, an it was an emotional religious play for me that made me feel something. But I'm a bit of a Scrooge, Christmas-wise. What was your favorite part of Christmas this year? :sunny:
We have new family members. There was a new adoption within our family that brought 7 new people into our lives. That was the best part for me.
And I could not be more grateful. Unfortunately it's still another week before "the holidays" are over.
A lot of local stores were closed today, or closed earlier than usual. That part I don't like. The restaurant with my favorite ATM was closed so I had to pick a different ATM which all charge twice the fee.
I know what you mean; I got to be at work; huge Christmas tree, feast, presents for everyone, plays, cute dance presentations, tiny kids dressed in adorable Christmas outfits..all done for me, NO WORK OF MY OWN!! No cooking, cleaning, decorating, enduring in-law comments about my short-comings, buying piles of presents that most don't like, and getting stuff I don't like. I did get some presents from the school, but quietly passed them on before I left. But never mind me. I'm mostly an exception, since people seem to like the holidays. My best part of Christmas season (after the 6th grade Christmas play) ..a 5-day break where I can head for the beach! :sunny:
That I can't pick just one! We're in our first apartment together; Christmas eve ended great with hard egg nog and a (really fun) B thriller, as well as some successful present sneaking. Christmas started with some lovely couple-stuff, was filled with happy times with family and pets, and it ended with The Doctor.
SPOILER A crack in time; Gallifrey wanted resurrected; space church people started a stand off; it was his last life; the Daleks went on the offensive. /SPOILER
I Thought You Or Your Better Half Got Sick Or Had An Accident, So All My Worry Boiled Down To Some Stupid TV Show....??? Cheers Glen.
Well just another week of year end reviews, new year’s resolutions, and crappy bowl games played between teams you’ve never heard of Hotwater
The gammon(om nom nom nom nom nom nom... was incredibly awesome this year - it went off the scale) and swimming in the vlei with my dog and chilling with the ducks
mostly that it almost didn't involve me at all, and hopefully i didn't offend anyone by its not doing so. my favorite thing every year is that it isn't about either the fanatics OR the greedy, who always seem to be going to war with each other over who it belongs to. but rather that the time of medwinter is about peace. at least that's what its always meant to me. not the 'religious' NOR the retailers, either one.
Best part by far was being able to spend Christmas with both sets grandparents and all my family. Especially playing l day yesterday and today with my goddaughter! I love her to the moon and back!
the best part about Christmas this year is not celebrating Christmas..spent most of yesterday out exploring a canyon near by my house
