I'd go tell them what I saw and call the humane society. People who beat their pets don't usually do it once and stop. If the guy got pissed and didn't listen I'd then proceed to beat him in his front yard. Nothing makes me as mad as a fucking coward who beats their pet(s)!

I was going to wait till the lady of the house got home, because i think the fucker that was doing it is a minor. but, i have the feeling she doesn't give a fuck. so i just called animal control and they said they would come out to do some "education". **sigh** i hate people, this is the perfect example of why...

I hope there is no retaliation for this.

that all depends on the beating.. you can beat a dog without breaking its demeanor but overly doing that will make them fear people and thats not a good dog for protection..

I would say "none of my business buddy, I think your abusing your dog" if they got cocky, then ass whooping is due.. :)

you could try and call on the whatever services you have in your country.. these can be a bit naff tho! i would write a letter and say what you saw when you was passing by the area(so they dont know its you) then i would state if you ever see anything like that again you and your friends are bikers wiv guns and if you ever see or hear of any harm coming to that animal ur going in for the kill..
post it when everyone is out, dont be caught putting it in the mail ...

What a horrible thing to witness :(

If he's a minor all the more reason to kick his ass. Otherwise he'll go on thinking that behaviour is okay because no one set him straight. Sounds like his parents haven't. He'll probably just see them coming as an inconvenience, they'll chastise him, he'll be pissed and then retaliate.

If animal control took it it would probably wind up getting put to sleep. And without solid evidence they don't give a shit either way, one less dog for them to deal with.

Steal the dog and give it to a good home, be a real vigilante. Start putting ads on craigslist right now.

Well it really depends on the situation, if it was out and out animal abuse, like they are beating the shit out of it or something. Then I would call the cops and the humane society and go over and say something. But if it is someone trying to discipline their dog from doing something that could hurt it (like running in the road or along those lines) then you might want to just go and see if you could maybe suggest better ways of training. I do not under any circumstances condone the mistreatment of any animal. Sorry, did not know it was just some little asshole being mean to his dog, definitely tell his mom and maybe the cops, depending on how mean he is.

My neighborhood is set up in such a way that the backs of houses face each other. Because my house is two stories, from the top floor we can see into the yard of the house behind us.

They have a dog out back that initially was barking every night and pissing the neighbors off, and with further observation it was noted that it was chained to a stake in the ground, always. I've lived here for five years and I've never seen someone even talk to it :( It didn't have food or water or shelter (and winters were always below freezing, even here in Florida), and talking to the owners did nothing, neighbors did nothing, police did nothing, poor dog. Sure, it wasn't being beaten, but neglect is bad enough.
Skinny as a rail, cut up, giant chain weighing down its neck...

We were watering our plants out back and saw a little tongue poking through a hole in the fence trying to get all the water it could, and after that we gave him water everyday.

We gave out cards with pictures of the dog and its habitat and info to all our neighbors, asking them to call the human society / police about it, but nothing came from that. (We did have a sheriff over twice, didn't do anything)
My mom even went over there and offered to take the dog if they needed a better place for it (we already had two dogs) but they said something along the lines of 'WE CAN DO IT FINE OURSELVES THANK YOU BITCH'

Then one day the dog just wasn't there anymore.

the animal control went to the wrong house, so i outed myself and directed him to the correct house. then they talked to someone that came outside for 1 minute and left. didn't even look at the dog.

First Id take pics, then Id call animal control. Ive had experience with stuff like this and if you dont have solid proof they dont want to do anything, and even then they still dont sometime.
There are laws about animals being left out without food-shelter-water, and obviously about physical abuse.
Ive have quite a few experiences with this though, and Ive found it usually takes at least 5-10 phone calls to get anything done. Last time nothing got done (even after about 15 phone calls, pics and proof that other people could be hurt) till animal control called the cops on me, and I told the cops what was going on and he went and gave the animal control people a hard time and made em do something.

Man up. Wait till she's outside and take her. If no one knows that it was you who called the humane society, then they won't know that it was you who took her.
