Whatever happened to freedom?

A week ago I ordered a bit of salvia divinorum, a legal drug, from everyonedoesit.com--it was only 5X, the lowest potency. I had never tried it and I thought I'd give it a shot. My mom, surprisingly, was okay with it. She said that legally there was nothing she could really do and it wasn't a party drug (she'd done research, but probably only on pro-salvia sites).

Well, on Friday we weren't home and we got a piece of paper in the mailbox, one of those "Sorry we missed you!" slips that said to pick it up at the post office. We went there and the postman hadn't brought it back and finished his route. My mom was frustrated for going all the way out there and I felt really bad, so I let it go and said I'd pick it up some other time.

This morning she woke me up and said that the local police station had phoned yesterday. They wanted to know if she had received the package--apparently they can track credit card orders from EDIT.com. She said no. They launched into a tirade about how salvia is soon to become illegal and how she can get in trouble for distributing it to minors. They also said that it's extremely dangerous and gave supportive evidence of that. She didn't give anything away, but they said that they might want to meet with her to get her to sign something. They said they'd just busted a couple of 15 year olds in Jersey, claiming they were selling the stuff, which probably wasn't even true. They're going to send a package of information to us about why salvia is so dangerous, and from now on they'll probably be monitoring her purchases.

I'm so worried that my mom's going to get in trouble, and I just don't understand why this is so terribly wrong. Salvia is legal here as of now--shouldn't that be all there is to it? Maybe it is as bad as they're saying...I really want to take the heat if anything does happen. But my mother keeps saying that she'll do it, because she thinks she was irresponsible for not researching the side-effects of the drug and believing it was just a natural and harmless herb. Still, I pressured her into it--I just feel so guilty and I really don't want her to get in trouble!

All I have to say is, thank God the package didn't come, because then we REALLY would have gotten in trouble.

Forgive my nearly incoherent typing...I'm not thinking clearly right now. I've lost all faith in the American justice system.

 

call a lawyer. they cant arrest you or anything for doing something thats not illegal. if it becomes illegal soon, than so be it. but as of right now, its legal (so you say, i always thought it was illegal, but never looked into it) and you're allowed to purchase and have it.
your mom and you cannot actually get in trouble. the police are just trying to scare you cause they dont like what you're doing.
talk to a lawyer.

you can't be nailed for shit that happened before it did become illegal and legislative sessions come in fairly set cycles, so you can do a little research and be totally safe so long as you are careful about your timing....

SALVIA IS NOT DANGEROUS!!! they are bull shitting you. the only dangers you have to worry about is falling down and getting a bruise or cut during the experience and well ofcourse anything you smoke is not good for your lungs but i highly doubt anybody would smoke Sally D daily. you are not in any trouble at all.

I live in a really conservative area, so that probably has something to do with it. It just makes no fucking sense.

And I also don't think Salvia is dangerous--from what I've researched of it. The police claimed that in ancient times members of tribes would jump off cliffs under its influence...I guess I can see that, though. I planned, however, to be safe and have a sitter with me.

The police also said that they have an entire department of people who go online undercover to sites just like this one and pretend to be teens to get your information and "save you" from the dangers of drugs if you admit to having done them. I fucking hate that--how deceitful! Well, I've taken my age and location out of my profile here and I don't plan on posting in the Marijuana forum much more.

In fact, I'm just about done with drugs and drinking--it's so much trouble to go through, so much sneaking around. When I have my own place it'll be a different story, but until then I think I'm stuck sober.

thats terrible...if its not illegal there, then they shouldnt do anything about it. And salvia isnt that bad...from what i heard, its just a 15-20 minute trip...i heard it can be intense, but if your in a safe environment, i doubt you will plan on jumping on any cliffs just because your on it...stupid fuzz...

 

I'd also like to note that the pigs have been syaing "It will be illegal soon" for several years now, and it's not getting any closer.
I have a feeling it may end up that way someday once they can fake some test results to prove it gives you cancer or avian flu or trenchmouth or something, but for now there is nothing they can do about possessing/buying/using it.

I suggest looking around for a place where you can buy it physically. Most head shops do various forms of it, and even if you have to make a bit of a trek it's worth the lack of hassle.

 

Of course, you have a democratically elected representative government, so by definition the people they represent "fucking suck".

 

as an aside, salvia fucking sucks anyway.
