My mom was. And this was back in the fifties and girls didn't wear pants or play sports where my mom lived. But there was my mom, whipping everyone's ass, doing "mend work" on the farm, driving the tractor when she was six, smoking when she was thirteen, castrating boars and getting her toe removed by a starled cows hoof and still doing the dishes that night. I dint think tomboy is still a good word for it these days.
I first think of girls who play softball and girls who play basketball. This is going to sound crude but I don't see the point here - guys are naturally better at both these sports...and there are athletics where girls excel at such as ballet and gymnastics (guys looks ridiculous doing ballet and gross doing gymnastics). Now secondly I think of that chick in the My Girl movie. Basically...a girl who isn't ladylike and acts like a boy (likes to get dirty and sweaty, not afraid of bugs, climbing trees, fishing, hunting, etc.) The thing is, there is nothing attractive about a tomboy to a guy. Now if she is gorgeous it won't matter that she has no makeup and is dressed unfeminine...but that is not the case with most tomboys. It is just a bad strategy for getting close to guys. I have nothing against tomboys, but I think they are usually kind of confused people.
Well, women play those games because they're fun, they have a competitive streak, and aren't bothering to focus their entire life purpose on picking up men.
You're an idiot I like tomboy girls. They're funny, sense of humor, like sports (and actually understands how it is played) doesnt mind getting hands on and doesnt care how much make up she should put on that day and knows how to drink beer!!! and me being somewhat of a tomboy, a lot of guys like it Id call them REAL women who dont give a shit ha!
I don't know if I was/am a "tomboy," but when I was little, other girls said I was kind of tomboyish.. because I liked playing outside and in the mud, I liked video games and sci-fi stuff, etc..
A good tomboy is somebody that combines female grace and intuition with male emotional control and practicality. In other words, somebody that takes 5 minutes to get ready in the morning, doesn't care if "butt looks big in this", and yet still has the boundless sympathy and sensitivity of woman. My first girlfriend was like that, and she was gorgeous. I don't really believe that people should feel compelled to behave within the cultural or even "natural" limits set by their sex.
That's not what I think of when I think of tomboy. You just described a cool chick. A tomboy to me is a girl that dresses pretty much like a guy and is into sports and would be down to go hunting or fishing. Someone who is not ladylike......lacks feminine grace. A girl that "knows how to drink beer!!!" has nothing to do with grace. Oh and you can call me an immature idiot even if you want...my ego has survived numerous psychedelic shatterings I think it can deflect a few clumsy ad hominem jabs.
I have been a tomboy all my life. It was fun when I was younger cause I could run with the boys and not be left behind like the other girls.. I could even beat up boys when I was younger Nowadays I like to act a bit more feminine while balancing the tomboy in me as well
My sister is a tomboy. She's also gorgeous. Men don't give a shit what she does. They give a shit what she looks like.
my ex-girlfriend wasn't a tomboy, she was a ballerina, but she was strong. She was half-mexican half irish and she was pretty toned from her dance training. She had genetic strength -her brother was naturally very muscular (he looked like he worked out all day but he just smoked pot all day) She told me that she had arm wrestled a lot of guys and she won a lot of times. When she flexed her muscles they were pretty developed for a 17 year old girl. I never arm wrestled her...I was sort of afraid of losing. By sort of I mean I was afraid of losing. For some reason she had it in her mind that we did arm wrestle and I beat her and I said "yea..." Her upper body strength (her leg strength was probably nuts) did not bother me at all though. I know this is out of the blue but I think girls who have high testosterone are generally physically and mentally stronger than girls with low testosterone. That is just a theory that I have heard tossed around that I like. ...yes I am baked!!:sifone::sifone::sifone:
A women who does not concern themselves with the petty aspects of physical beauty. One who is often considered "one of the guys."
