i've been playing around with sculpy and beads at home and started making some l'il treasures for my locks. i've got a couple of beads and stitches in right now. here's a peyote stitch that i did. it's got a gecko on it sorry the pic is crappy......i took it myself and one of my dreadies got in the way. lol what have everyone else got in their locks?
Tonnns of wooden beads...2 hair wraps ~ one red white and blue the other purple gold red and green~ 2 phatty glass pieces. I neeed a peyote stitch!!!! I 've got a pattern on how to do them I've just been busy and haven't taught myself yet.
i just took most of the stuff i had in out of my hair...but i still have several large wooden beads, a lock nut (as in what you put on the end of a bolt), a little silver bead i found at a bike festival, and i just put a camo patch in that i made. used to be kinda like this: now it's more like this: sorry to anybody who this is a repeat for, and has seen these elsewhere...
I dont have any pictures... but all i have is one lonesome glass bead that used to be on my pants on the drawstring... and since it was made from hemp, the drawstring broke over time, and i decided to keep the bead because it was pretty haha. i have wooden beads that im going to paint, and leave some natural... but they just keep falling off my dreads. so i cant wear them yet. peace~
I had like three wraps that I took out. I have a silver faerie that was given to me at a rainbow gathering.
ive got 20 odd different things in mine :S i just added a bell but everything in there has a story or reason for being there.....except the bell.. i just liked the idea of sounding like a kitty cat when i ran
i´ve got 2 hemp wrap things: i´ve had other stuff in there, like wooden beads, glass beads, etc, but i got tired of laying on them and hurting my head. my dreads do that enough on their own! so i opted for something softer... i´ve also got old wax and a lot of dandruff in them. the wax has started to come out after 4.5 years and it´s pretty gross. it undreads the hair where it was, too, which shows how bad wax can be. and the dandruff just gets trapped in there. oh, feathers, too. i occasionally pull feathers outta random dreads. i think they´re from my winter coat
Oh and a piece of inselly silver stuff from one of my scarves. Be careful with hemp wraps. I'm told embroidery thread and wool is better as hemp can hold in the water and create mold :s
i saw your trhead on knottylocks??? about all of the things in your dreads and i think it's great! i love the stories that go along with each one as for the bell, i love them......i just finished putting an electric blue wool wrap in my hair with some silver jingle on the end.........it drives my cats insane when i shake my locks! lol i put jingles on almost everything he he he
