i'm so sick of everything revolving around what we can or can't afford. money, society, possessions...they all seem pointless and nonsensical. i know i'm not the only one here with financial issues, and i am by no means wanting sympathy. i'm just trying to understand. how come when it rains, it pours? i just can't seem to catch a break lately.
they built a working system out of what you want you give them money to buy stuff then you take money for working for them recycle
It is pure unquestionable annoyance. Takes up a lot of our focus and attention. Some might think of the monetary system and society structure as a define barrier which prevents us from thinking outside of set routine, outside of the box - and coming closer to truths about our home planet and how we human beings truly relate to this planet and the universe.
because some people can afford them. yeah, i know what you mean, money is ridiculous, but it's also a necessary tool. i just hate how stupid our economy has gotten. i knew the stock market was going to crash. we need to reassess our values as a people. it's sad. we are still doing the same thing and hoping for different results.
I am going to ask you a question lovelypeace. How fixated are you, yourself on the idea of having 'things' and financial security? Can you perhaps readjust your view to one where you have more than you could ever need? Or are you in real financial trouble?
Consider that nearly every aspect of the economy is a mechanism designed to concentrated the wealth with the most wealthy. The notion of a good life defined by money is a fleeting illusion. Most people are very resourceful with finding things to be miserable about regardless of their spending ability.
i am not fixated whatsoever on the material things of life. i'm just trying to survive. i'm not in serious trouble yet. just struggling. and i have been my whole life. but still, i'd rather be focusing my energy towards other more important things, but i can't help but to worry atleast a little. i generally take on the attitude that things tend to work themselves out, and they usually do. i just have to give it time and have a little faith that this crazy world will give me a break.
I hear you, I suppose what you're really wondering is why anyone should have to deal with money whatsoever. It sucks, it means so little and yet its so necessary to live.
People need to be watching ZeitGeist 2: ''Addenddum''... there's a lot in there directly relating to this topic.
. what exactly is this and where can i find it? and to Face Eater: money is somewhat necessary to live, in today's society atleast. i mean, it doesn't cost to live on planet earth, but it costs to live in a house and drive a car, etc, etc. i don't know. it all confuses me. and i'm tired of thinking about it. i seriously wish i had the balls to just escape from society, and live where money isn't such a necessity. does such a magical place exist??
Budhhist Monasteries, sort of, I have actually made sure to find out which ones are close to me just in case things get too hard. I think a large problem is that we don't have the skills to be self reliant. In hunter gatherer societies children were usually ready to fend entirely for themselves, gather their own food, build their own shelter independent of their tribe by the time they were twelve or thirteen. We on the other hand depend on society to feed us and thus we are its slaves. I am not too fussed really, as long as I have a job with regular hours and earn just enough to enjoy a few good things in life then I am happy. As soon as I have enough money i'm hitting the road.
http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ if you haven't seen the first, i'd watch that too if i were you; but the second is much more tied in with this thread, as you will hopefully see. all i can say is brace yourself.
Money is so abstract and silly that it binds us to unfulfilled lives of stress and living for tomorrow. IMO I want a life without the related stresses of money...I think it would be liberating beyond what I can describe.
That's what I was thinking too. It's strange to think of all the people to slave away to get more money only to waste their lives.
some private equity firms bought mervyns, took their real estate, and rented it back to them at inflated prices, they used the money from the rent to pay for initially having bought mercyns, and thy're using the money from mervyns selling all their assets to turn a profit THAT my friends, is the insanity of the system.
