Why the fuck is he sending CAD troops to afghanistan?

Pardon me if this has already been bitched about. I liked keeping my nose outta that shit. It's not very Canadian of us when we don't have the whole story, and after a winter election *poof* our troops sent to afghanistan.
    sup wit dat?

    I can anwer your question...

The brainless sheep of Canada voted conservitive this time around... because...

    "they voted for change".

whatever the F@#$ that meant... And maybe its not very hippy of me, but, I hold each voter who voted for Harper accountable for the death of every Canadian soldier in Afganastan..

PS: Did you see harper on the news sending his little boy off to school... the guy shook his sons hand... wow, what a warm caring human he must be.

    sorry, end of vent.

yeah, brownie points... in the bush... of the american politicians... just watch as harpers nose shows up in the media with brown patches on it...

I said it before and I'll say it again. It's a little less relevant now than it was before the elections but here goes: " I'll be afraid if harper wins, even more so if it's a majority..." . consider me afraid, all the more reason to start a commune...:)

I seem to remember what we were saying before the election but they still voted for him.

We have no say here in western canada anyways.

Either way, that whole thing scared the shit out of me. We need him out NOW, before he decides its in Canada's 'better interests' to get in bed with the US.

    Ugh - you people.

It was Bill Graham who sent troops to Afghanistan. You know, the former Liberal Defense Minister????

Canada has been involved with aiding Afghanistan since 2003!!!! Our troops have been there - peacekeeping for almost 4 years people!!!

True, this is not a peace keeping mission - but it was established by the Liberal government and is now supported by the Conservative Government. Paul Martin approved this mission!!!

This is a UN-backed mission. A UN-backed mission, unlike Iraq and its situation. The Afghani government has asked for outside forces to come in and help stabilize the country. Why? Because insurgents and Taliban malitias still think that they can run the place. It is a coalition force, going into Afghanistan backed by the UN and welcomed by the Afghani government.

I can't stand it when misinformed left-leaning intelligent people get dismissed by everyone else because they don't bother to read about the history.

For Christ's sake, turn your favourite radio station off and listen to the CBC for once!!

I'm concerned that under the conservatives our military spending will increase and take priority over more important domestic issue's.

I wish this wasn't always about liberal/conservative. Theyre both fuck ups. I just want to see a little change.

    Why does it shock you?

Personally, I don't think we should even have troups... I would rather see our millitary dissasembled, and all the lazy drunks that we call our millitary sent to work at McDonnalds or wherever...

Today on the news, they shot an innocent man in a taxi in afganastan.

smells like Iraq too... whats next, Canadian Fox?

i believe you guys have barred Fox news from Canada.

Why does it shock me? The overthrow of the Taliban was absolutely justified. They were one of the worst regimes on the planet with horrific human rights abuses.

Why are you against Afghanistan? Do you believe Canada should help no one but themselves? The Canadians in afghanistan do not want to kill anyone...it is the remnants of the taliban who are causing problems. Why you would want to let them win is beyond me.

I just heard -on the CBC in fact, that the Canadian troops shot up a taxi cab. They ignored orders not to. That doesn't sound like peacekeeping.

Look, let me try and explain something, and I mean it nicely, but it might not work with your believes...

We don't belong in Afghanistan because for one reason.. No one asked us to stick our noses in... Its not about winning and loosing. There is no with us or against us mentality... it simple. There is something messed up with every country in the world.. yours, ours, and Afghanistan. You don’t want people coming out to try and "fix up" American the way they see fit do you? We don't need people coming up to Canada to try and enforce their way of life and believes, and we shouldn’t do the same either.. This crap about spreading democracy is simply that... crap... Yes, the Taliban exists.. but its not like Canada and the US had its own gangs of reblas over the years. no one needed to invade us to change us.. things worked out, and we became Canada on our own... let that happen to other countries.

At this time, I think both the messed up governments in Canada and the USA need to learn to keep their noises out of other peoples affairs. We have our own messes that need to be fixed up... let alone trying to fix a problem in a land where we don't know shit from a hole in the ground... Ours is not necessary the "right" way... its our way.. and we should leave others alone to live their way, and to grown on their own.. not to force unwanted change with war efforts... that’s not only wrong... its discussting, immoral, and sickens me and many others.

this sums it up for me. I add that we don't know the real reasons that Bush is "peacekeeping" or fighting "terrorism". It's truely all about power and the almighty buck.

I would rather be a hammer than a mollusk.

ooops sorry socratezzzz I missed the info on your last post about the taxi!

i believe nato asked you to stick your noses in, and you had an obligation to under Article 5. You were more than willing to go without being 'forced' though. The current Afghani government also wants you there.

I cannot and will not accept that we are to leave the rest of the world to die, starve and suffer because we are shouldn't stick our noses in. That is how genocide and other atrocities happen. No Thanks. I'd rather be known as a warmonger.
