What's with all the hatred?

I've been told to shut up, that my opinions are stupid, and other things.
What's with all the hatred? I thought the site was supposed to be about love? But I have met so many other kind and interesting people so I shouldn't let a few people get me down I guess, just a little shocked.

I went through a similar thought process lately. Fortunately, you are asking questions instead of just getting mad like I did. Understand that people speak freely here, just like insanejester said. Let them! I've discovered that people won't listen to you unless you are willing to listen to them. Don't allow it to escalate by firing back with angry words. Some people say things to make you mad, and some people say things to make you think. Learn to spot the difference. There are a lot of smart people here. Some of those people have a really "dry" sense of humor.

Forums are forums because of the discussion, good or bad.

 

How can someone's opinion be stupid? We are all entitled to our own. I understand. I will choose to be thoughtful and respect people's opinions, however.

 

I think you are defining disagreement as "hatred" when that's not it at all.

If everyone thought exactly the same, how boring would that be???

 

ahaa - you see - i laughed when I read that cos out of all the comments in your support,you quoted the one that challenged you.sensitive nature - it's a good thing to have - you get to enjoy flipping once in a while - this is healthy in my opinion

I've noticed when some people are done fronting and bashing...They just up & leave the thread..
It's almost like they walked into the thread with paparazzi behind them...They insult people, ideas, all the while staring at their own reflection in words, dancing verbally to please themselves, & their small deluded fanclub. It's all for show, & they are the star..Then, they're gone.

What? Is it bad to have respect for peoples thoughts and ideas? I'm sure you would like to be respected.

 

It's easyer to forgive someone that you prooved wrong, then to forgive someone you have given shit for a long while because you thought he was wrong but it turned out you was the wrong one in the end.
Maybe that causes the "hatred"... happends alot on the religious boards

its much worse when it happens in public - I was in a music competition infront of hundreds of people including my class from school this dj guy said to me,holding out a mic 'so why are you the only solo act in this comp. - got no friends?' - I was a shy teenager and just said 'no'.Then he said ' your names richard - so I guess all your friends call you dick then' - well if i was on that stage now I'd probably say something crap like yeah - big dick - my reputaion precedes me,whatever - it's rubbish really - just light entertainment but not all the threads on here are full of that kind of rubbish - some people zip around in different modes of language depending on the day and what mood they're in

 

if you are told to shut up, you're thoughts aren't being questioned, you are told tostop sharing your thoughts on a certain subject. that ain't free speech. free speech is more of being tolerant towards others than shouting you're own opinion without respecting the opinion of someone else. no attack, just expressing my opinion by making a comment on your post

 

Not everyone is able to explain their opinions properly but everyone will have A reason for their opinion, to assume that opinion is ignorance simply because they haven't given you the reason is ignorant in itself.
