What's with all the negativity?

Seriously guys. I'm getting tired of reading threads by people with honest questions or advice and watching them have the virtual equivalence of being thrown under a bus. Whatever happened to "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"?

I mean I know this is the Internet and all so you're gonna come across a few that just don't agree, but what's with all the personal attacks? Does it make you feel better about yourself? Did you just have a shitty day and need to take it out on someone else?

Seems to me we should be embracing those that are like-minded enough to be on hf in the first place, not criticizing them.

Just my 2 cents.

Someone recommended L. Ron Hubbard as a VERY good source for the betterment of some people's minds. I don't know that much about him, but he was highly recommended for some people. Peace to you (smile.)

 

I tend to stay away from threads that attract that kind of attention, because it annoys me. Sometimes it's the OP that annoys me, sometimes the responses. Usually when someone posts thinking they are so much better than anyone else and their opinion has to be correct. I have better things to do that sit there and post/ read negative nonsense. Yeah, I do have a couple of people in mind who bug the life out me for posting the stuff you mean.

I mostly only give sarcastic responses to trolls, arrogant, and down right stupid people. But with the latter category, I try to be nice about it at least.

"Am I gay if .." threads come to mind.

From what I remember you seem to post fairly intelligent replies, whereas others are just plain rude!

 

Hahahaa man do I know what you mean. But you know what over time you accept the negative comments for what they are. Out of all the bitch slaps i've gotten on these forums if anything it just gives me a thicker skin and more appreciation for the positive ones.

This was a much friendlier site at one time, but maybe it was a friendlier world or a friendlier Internet.

What I don't understand (and you hit on it in the OP, a bit) is why people flame the shit out of those seeking answers. It's not the conspiracy theorists, or the debaters that get it worst anymore; it's poor guys like this.

 

I've never found hf to be very liberal or hippie at all. In fact most come off sounding quite conservative.

And of course positive comments can come off sounding patronizing and condescending, thus just as bad as a negative comment - vis a vis - passive aggressive

Duck, I'd interpret this type of sentiment the same as "Well back in my Day, we respected our elders" type thing. I've read a lot of old posts, nothing here has changed. Expressing that kind of sentiment just comes off sounding like a senior member stamping his seniority - things were better when all you noobs werent around

Well, we disagree; I don't find that too surprising.

If anything, I think it's the longer-standing members that are meaner than the noobs.
If your post count is under 200, be prepared for some attack.

part of the problem is when people assume everyone here is like minded

I like the way this site has everyone..from all walks of life...from all regions of our world (some even from outer space)

I seen a post a while back where someone said non-drug users shouldn't be here ...lol...Im glad Im not closed minded like that putz

 

Just trying to raise awareness that we (myself included) aren't remembering the golden rule, in the hopes that maybe someone will say "hey, ya know what? That IS an actual human being on the other end of the keyboard with real feelings"

If I think someone is genuine I have no problem treating them with respect even if I don't like or agree with them. However, If I think someone's trolling, I can play that game too.

The worst negativity I've seen happens in threads where the OP is either blatantly trolling or comes up with a question so ridiculous that it's double face palm worthy.

 

But that threads a perfect example of the uselessness of positivity.

Dude says his gal only half cums. Standard advice from the gals is oh communication, cos of course communication solves everything. There is a human being on the end of that thread with feelings and emotions,, how sweet makes my nipples go all sensitive

When you know full well his gal aint going to communicate the truth, that he doesnt turn her on as much as he should, maybe sucks in bed, maybe blows to quick, doesnt know what he's doing. He's going to have a big sulk if she says that stuff

A negative approach directly at him isnt going to work either, he's just going to sulk and not listen.

When the truth is as a straight guy he has to man up, suck up all those girly emotions, learn control, take charge, not focus on just trying to stick it in all the time, call her a dirty filthy whore if she starts to throw puppy dog eyes at him, slap her on the butt etc - if he is to conquer the angry beaver, i.e pretty much do the exact opposite everyone advises him to do - whether its advice from the peace, love and mung beans crowd or advise from those who want to make fun of him for their own giggles
