The movie that you've seen a billion times, and always feel good to sit back and watch it? Saved, Girl Interrupted, Accepted, Donnie Darko... I'm sure theres more, but those are some of my favorites at the top of my head.
The End of Evangelion, Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Rushmore, Dazed and Confused, among others....oh and Anchorman
ive heard so much about Princess Mononoke, is it really as good as they say? Im more into the post-apocalyptic type like Akira, Ghost in the Shell and Trigun, but I think I could dig it. Dazed and Confused for sure. I've grown up in central texas and that movie is right on with its adaptation of the area. Vanilla Sky, old 007 movies, Beer Fest, Almost Famous always put me in a good place.
At times, it could make a pretty interesting movie. the drama, the jokes, the perversion, i'd laugh, I'd cry. Two thumbs up.
Wonder Boys Buffalo '66 Taxi Driver...How could it possibly be a comfort movie? But it is... French Connection
Nothing But Trouble... The Jerk.... Pump up the Volume... Braindead... Evil Dead trilogy... Crimewave... One Crazy Summer... there are tons more but I will stop here, realize it was "comfort movie" but I have more than one...
