This has been on my mind all day so I decided to start a thread about it.

The other day I was walking around with a few friends and there were some kids playing outside on some kind of electronic thingy. Figures, but I thought, at least they were outside. My friends stopped in front of the house, I think they knew a relative of the child. The kid looked up towards my friend and began swearing over something. This wasn't just a 'hell' he was actually going on saying "Oh you're mom's a ****. She sucks cock'. I interjected and asked the boy how old he was for those words to be coming out of his mouth. He was seven or so, and I argued that he was still very young to be so profane. The boy got angry at me saying that he wasn't young and he knew all of those words and exactly what they meant. His friend was laughing and going along with it.
I walked away because it was so pathetic. Its not just this instance either, I see so many children using very rude, graphic, words. Acting very bitter. And yesterday I was in the store and a very small girl was sitting in a shopping cart by me. I smiled at her and she gave me the ugliest look back, a look I didn't learn until I was about ten.

I know I am rambling now, but I was just wondering does anyone remember when kids were more innocent, climbed trees and not levels in video games, and were actually children past infancy?
Is it just me? Other people realize how violent and vulgar kids are getting these days?
Who do we have to blame? The parents? The 'toys' kids play today? The education?

    Peace&+Love,
    Em

i'm sorry, but if i were you i would have slapped that kid.
    right in his face.
not out of anger, because he obviously didn't respond to you verbally.
    unless you count the profanity.
i think parents are too cautious on punishing their kids.
there is a seven year gap between my first brother and i.
they had the fortunate chance to never meet my father, but unfortunately with that came lack of rules/morals/respect.
my dad let me know from the get go how i should act as kid, around adults/in public/in private. he let me know he set rules and enforced them becuase i was a kid. he didn't make any rules without reason, things most people just live by, and that was clear.
parenting is tricky, idk the first of it and i've rambled.
if i wanted to say anything here, sometimes children call for physical discipline, but not out of anger. ;)

Hmm, I don't see anything wrong with video games. Kids should play inside and out. I agree that kids aren't kids anymore, but it's just curse words. The parents should talk to the kid about using words like that more appropriately, and not spew them around just to look cool.

My issue isn't that the kid knows those words, it's that he was being a jerk.

Yeah, I guess they are only words and that kids don't really totally understand the meaning, perhaps. They just say them for the reactions, maybe.

Today, in my community's Teen Group, The leader started talking about the voilence and disrespect with kids today. Ironic. Even more ironic guess who he blamed?
    THE HIPPIES.
Haha, I just laughed. He said that kids don't have parental figures because when all the hippies had kids they wanted to be their friends. Let them have freedom and no discipline. Thus, creating unruly kids. What do you guys think of that?
I think it connected an awful lot.

Parents can still teach their kids morals as their friends.. My mom has always been more of a friend than a parent. I think she has done a good job, sure I smoke weed and sometimes chill with the " wrong crowd " but nothing too bad. All in all, you can be your daughter/sons friend; but you need to know when to put your foot down.

i was raised by an alchoholic and I was never that bad. So to blame hippies is kind of stupid. Not to mention I always ahve and still do treat adults with respect now. I'm not perfect though, I do curse, but I didn't start doing that until I was 12. And I didn't do it at random, I did it whenever I got pissed off or telling a really bad joke. The only time I remember saying a curse word at a young age, was when I was 4 and I heard the f-word on television, and I started saying "fuck, fuckity, fuck, fuck fuck." and my mom was like "don't say that anymore." and i didnt, till i got older. But i know what you mean. Alot of the kids around where I live are total jerks at 7. they cuss at random people on the street and two weeks ago this seven year old came up to me and my friends and was like "You ladies wanna a piece of this ass?" what is wrong with the world?

If there's respect and communication on both sides, then it can work. Parents need to communicate with their children, and children need to communicate their feelings to their parents.
I don't think it's right to use your power to break someone's spirit, be it child or animal.

There are some kids on a online game I play that say stuff like that. They're 16+, but it still seems as if they are around 5 or 6 the way they use half of them.

Chances are they are not 16. Pretty easy to say your 3 years older than you really are over the internet.

In Massechusettes it's illegal to punish your kids. Just look at all the crud that finds its way out of there. I know one thing, driving there is just plain scary. I'm sure there are other states with laws like that too. New Hampshire has a super liberal governer right now.. I fear we may end up with the same sort of crap here too. Even if we do though, I'll be breaking the law. My kids aren't gonna grow up as little brats.

i never forgot my own childhood, and that the adult fantasy of childhood innocence was bullshit from birth. but then i never bought into the lie that repressing my imagination had bugger all to contribute to maturity either.

i blame all past generations who lived through this society, for leaving behind all of their problems for us to deal with. I can never be a hippie in this society knowing i could've done something to help the future. And you know what they say, kids are the future. but then again, what do i know, im just a kid.

These kids on the streets, are the outcome of a careless society.
These kids have eyes but they cannot see.
These kids fight foolishly without a cause.
These kids are diversified because of middle class commodity.
These kids patiently await their turn to die.
These kids see no higher purpose in their life.
These kids live a life of violence without true hope or guidance.
These kids search for the meaningless truth and fail.
These kids have a tough history, but each of them has the same story to tell.
These kids can be saved, with hope.
But the whole society has lost hope.
So these kids have no hope, and these kids have no future. Without a future, the evolution process will be stunned. And the process of evolution will reverse. Slowly but surely our species will be dumbed down. Our instinctive style of living will be lost forever. Combine the theory of evolution with the theory of religion, and you get one sick and twisted story for the ages. Just think about what is going on, on top of what the revelations has predicted. But i only think the revelations is going to happen because mankind keeps believing its going to happen. Its an endless circle of fear.

Its sad , but i think T.V and video games have dulled the imaginations of kids today.
whatever happened to building forts out of whatever you could find , and of pretending a cardboard box was a car or a house...even bits of broken dishes were fine china , of playing make believe games with other kids like cowboys and indians or pirates or whatever ?
If you bring this up to kids today they look at you like you are mental and that there was something wrong with you when you were a child.

    its so sad.

My parents did a fine job of raising me because I have NEVER ever talked to people that way. I have the upright most respect for people because my dad taught me to be that way. I never whined about needing anything. I never asked for anything barely. So thats why I get good treatment today.

The thing I cant stand is when i see 10-13 year olds walking around with booty shorts on and half their chest hanging out! I mean damn I was NEVER like that. and parents tell me oh its just the way to dress today. Im thinking excuse me? you guys are idiotic parents if you think that.

Even girls my AGE walk around like whores and sluts just because theyre legal and can do what they please. I mean yeah its fun and all but dont abuse yourself over it! When girls are dating guys, they get clingy cause their self esteem is low or hurt or they give themselves away too easily.

I dunno. Maybe Im just too old fashion!

It's only normal, I think, since imagination is frowned upon when people become adults as well. And it's also sad, why can't grown ups have a wild imagination as well? Instead, they have to be "respectable" people ready to kick anybody's teeth out for that "respectable" position where you have to throw away who you are for a "respectable" company that makes money any way they can possibly imagine, even if they have to blow the world away.

If you want to know why kids behave the way they do, look at whom they learn it from.
