a real protest, back in college. although it's not at all unusual to see small groups of elderly hippies standing on a busy street corner and holding incoherent signs.
A couple weeks ago, in front of our small town newpaper office. They had fired long time (20+ years) favorite journalist, for no good reason. So, the community gathered and protested.
6 or so years ago? (the iraq war ones) there were a few hundred people at these. people'd drive by yelling "fucking unpatriotic hippies" n stuff like that.
i saw one today...maybe 150 or so people. was out on a scavenger hunt when we saw them. protesting the vote in Iran. bunch of fucking morons, IMO. they were chanting "count the vote, stop the bloodshed"
last april i went to a mumia protest, before the dead show i went to a marijuana march.. there's plenty of protests in philly
I see anti-abortion protesters around here all the time. Other than that, the last one was PETA in San Francisco, in front of Sax 5th Avenue.
A year or so ago (took part). Blockade of MOD Aldermaston where they make the Trident nuclear missiles. About 5000 people there all told..
Two weekends ago. Protesting a dump. There are 1st Nations there as a daily protest as well. Last weekend. Protest of the closing of a school. Weekend coming up. Protest of the closing of a different school.
