    Try Soulseek. http://www.slsknet.org
It has a lot of more obscure albums as well as common ones. A lot of people seem to be using it as well.

Most of the time, from Amazon, cause they have almost everything I'm looking for. Sometimes, in a department store, for very known or new stuff, and when I'm broke, from Kazaa.

I always thought downloading music was trashy, used stores are good.

Yeah, I'm glad to say I have no downloaded music on my computer, on my MP3 player, or on any CDs for that matter.

I usually get music from either an electronics store, this cool hippie music store called Quonset Hut, or various used vinyl record retailers. There is one really cool used vinyl place near me, but they have pretty high prices. Thing is though, I can get all sorts of albums on vinyl there that I can't find anywhere else.

i download my music from soulseek. the shops here only sell commercial music like avril lavigne, britney spears and that stuff. Non-commercial or obscure music is very, very hard to find. But i'm thinking of buying some albums from amazon.co.uk. At least they have what i want.

I get most of my music from Hastings Entertainment. Wal-mart is cheaper but their stuff is edited.
If I want something hard to find I download it from WinMix.

Since I've gotten the 'net, I've downloaded a lot of songs on the 'net and I've rented several CDs (and saved the songs on my computer). I still buy CDs on occasion, and when I do, I usually go to the big-ass Tower Records in Tokyo.

Downloading sucks!!!If you appreciate the music you should support the musician and buy it!!As the best music was released before the 80's it's no problem to get the Vinyls to reasonable prizes (Ebay / Second Hand Stores)

Not exactly. The 13th Floor Elevators are a perfect example to refute this argument. You see, the band, which is now famous for creating the first, true, psychedelic album in 1966, makes no money from their record sales. Also, if you were to find an original vinyl release of one of their albums, you'd have to pay a pretty penny to buy it. So, the only way to get one of their albums is to buy a re-issue vinyl record or a CD. Really, the only motive to buy the CD or vinyl is for collection's sake because you can't support the artist anyway.

I don't like downloading, but if someone were to download The 13th Floor Elevators or any other band in their situation, I wouldn't have a problem.

I think rec comps monopolized things for too long, and the only way to rebel is download. I think eventually downloading will die out on it's own, because we wont find anything special about getting the songs we like. We payed too much for concert tickets and cds, they totally took advantage of the fact that that was the only way to get music. now we turn around and do it right back to them (not cool but it gets the point across.)Downloading is fine. Burning, or putting on anything other than your computer is not as good. I think if it's free, it's a gift and shouldnt be exploited.
so if you really do just want to listen to 1 song, you shouldnt have to buy a whole fucking cd. download and keep it on your comp. no harm. go buy a cd if there are songs you want to hear in school or driving or whatever.
anyways this poll isnt about assfucks feeling high and mighty because they are "above" downloading. I appreciate the replies, the valid ones.
thanks for voting on the poll
