I am getting ready to take a little cross country trip and I thought that I might get a little something to help meremember each of the towns/cities which I go through. Please also let me know what your town/city is best remembered for. Thanks.... Give peace a chance, and love your felloow human being.
We actually just got a law passed to legalize tattooing in SC. But, our county is stalling with the zoning regs to put it off as long as possible. I always go to Ink Link in Gastonia, NC. Not a long drive and my guy is pretty awesome.
area 51 in Cedar Falls iowa http://area51tattoos.com/ lots good people, gatherings and great music in this town. frog
Inkfluence in lubbock, tx is tattooing really illegal in south carolina?? that seems so insane to me!
Doll Star Tattoo in Maysville, Kentucky. JJ....the main tattoo guy is the one you'd want to see. He's great at what he does and is an ultra groovy man. Maysville isn't really known for anything....but this is where Rosemary Clooney is from. Haha.
It was just legalized last year. As of right now, I think Myrtle Beach is the only place you can get one. I'm only about 45 minutes away from where I go, so it's no big deal for me.
The best spot in our area is Pain 4 Pleasure. A friend of mine runs it and he does kickass tattoos and piercings.
On Long Island, Peter Tat2 on Hempstead Turnpike is very good. I am going back to get Jerry Garcia done in portrait on my arm or back.
In STL I'd have to say the GoldenLands is the best tattoo parlor. I've been there((not gotten a tattoo)) and it's really clean and they do an amazing job. My dad got a cover up done there and it's really good. The two guys that own the place are kinda boring though...
I don't have a favourite place in Vancouver. Anyone can suggest me one? I don't consider Adrenaline, Sacred Heart and TheDutchman (I particularly don't like the work of the Dutchman - I mean no offense here. To me, the quality is lacking seriously even though he seems to be a 'legend'... perhaps of the past but certainly no longer). I tend to go with favourite artists. Michie in Sacred Heart is decent, does her job, extremely precise, cool and laidback. Plus I've been looking for a female artist for so long. There is definitely a difference in the way they tattoo, for me, and are much gentler - feminine designs are actually more feminine rather than the image of something feminine. I can't speak for the other artists at Sacred Heart.
if going thru Texas, avoid Tigger's. My sweetie has some serious problems from an experiemntal ink used without his knowledge that it was experimental.
One of the biggest shops & has killer work in this area is Marks tattooing. I think he has about 5-6 shops in a 30 mile ratius. I don't go there because he's expensive. My tattoo artist started with Mark 11 year ago to open his first shop. Than Mark screwed him & my artist went on his own. The best thing is, he makes house calls. Which is a plus if you have kids w/o a babysitter.
