I honestly dont know where to start. my hairs about 4 inches long, and i want thick dread locks. Everywhere i look includes wax in their instructions but you guys all seems to hate wax, and I really dont want mold in my hair.
The thicker your dreads are, the harder it is going to be to clean under the roots. Are you confused about where to start dreading or how to section?
Get a friend to start one in the back for you OR you can do your first one in the front, it doesnt matter. You WILL need a friend to help you do that back ones, they are not easy to do them yourself trust me. It took me 3 day to completely finish my own because my friend couldnt help me finish them. and if you want them to be REALLY tight spend about 45-an hour back combing each one.
My friend is in NY right now, and i dont think hed want to do that. you can still wash your hair while your neglecting it right?
oh yeah, man. you can always wash it. just wash like once a week with Dr. Bronners or some other residue free shampoo. you gotta have patience though, man. neglect dreads can take a loooooong time to form
Ask around, there are a few different brands that sell residue free shampoos. Hell you can even hit up DreadHeadhg dot com and buy a bottle for $10.
If you have a soap maker in your area, they can make you a bar of soap with no chemicals and no residue. I'm really liking the convenience and cleaning power of a shampoo bar, right now I'm using the Knotty Boy bar, but I doubt I'll buy another because I'd rather buy from private soapmakers. This is the next maker I'm going to buy from: http://chagrinvalleysoapandcraft.com/shambar.htm
