It’s literally depressing to make ultra processed foods your diet.

Fake meat linked to depression among vegetarians

The research paper is at the bottom of the article,

    Short form:

Researchers compared blood serum and mood of 1,780 vegetarians who ate plant-based meat alternatives and 1,840 vegetarians who did not, and found that processed faux meat elevated depression.

While I’m sure this isn’t a great surprise to long term veg heads, I noticed the phenomenon when Impossible Foods came out with their burger, that packs a bit more fat than a beef burger. I’ve had maybe six, and each time I was cranky afterward.

What are your experiences around these items?

Franken foods are not just for the big industrial food companies.

Im often amazed at what passes for "health food" these days. I walk into a health food store and nearly everything is processed and packaged. In some stores 40% is just snacks and sweets. Another 25% is nutritional supplements and pills.

If you were eating right you wouldn't need any of that. And Kale is one of the most pesticide laden veggies.

So it's highly processed as well as chemical additives that we need to be aware of in our diet.
