This is the Asian thread, but I've noticed that there's only Eastern Asian, Asian Pacific countries listed up top. What about the Middle East... that is still Asia and I'd quite like to find out some information on places like Iran, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan etc. Has anyone visited these places? I met a guy in Japan once who had spent 2 yeas travelling around all of the -istans, that was very interesting.
I think they only picked these places bcos they seem to be the most popular... Like there are a lot of countries missing , like Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Burma, Indonesia, Philliphines, Pakistan that should be on there, but hey...
Um here's a gold star for listing a few countries that you know in parts of Asia. I don't think you're getting the point. I know you can't list all places, but in the Europe forum they've got places like Italy, France etc... covers a large area of Europe, East and West. However, yes... here they've covered popular Eastern Asian/South East Asian countries, but there are none from the middle East. It is important. Places like Dubai are also popular and I don't think this forum is representing the whole of Asia properly. Well it isn't... people forget that the Middle East is also part of Asia because they're too busy thinking about Asian women or something and they are mainly from the Asian Pacific Rim. Yes, I understand that there is a lot of sketchy places to be going in the middle east at the moment. However, places like Jordan, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia... should have a place up top. People may be encouraged to speak about them then.
Well, what actually is your point? You are pissed because they don't list any middle-eastern countries? Why are you so upset about this? Why the little outburst at me? I think most people are aware of the fact the middle east is also asia...On the contary I think you are totally missing the point; If there were sepearte forums for Jordan, Iran, U.A.E etc etc nobody would post in them. This is evident by the fact the asia forum sees very little traffic as it is (a couple of posts a day, sometimes none at all)...More so I don't see what this has to do with this; "people forget that the Middle East is also part of Asia because they're too busy thinking about Asian women"...I mean can you explain how you arrived at that conclusion? I really can't follow your reasoning here at all. No offence or anything but I find it very bizarre as to why you'd get so upset about this. Obviously the admins here didn't think it was necessary to have seperate forums for the less travelled countries...Besides, I don't see why it matters anyway. Why is it important?
It's important because it encourages potential members, visitors/guests who lurk, to post as well. If a person from Dubai or Iran sees this forum when it says Asia and yet focusses only on the far east, it's quite misleading, exclusive and extremely stereotypical. However, I have to say, Fountains of Nay, while I agree with this thread, some of the areas you've listed fall under what I would call Eurasia, and others of the Middle East. Thank you for pointing this out. I personally do think that if there were forums for those in the middle east, there would eventually be posters who become regulars there. At the same time, it may be just a vacuous space with a bunch of hippies wishing they had something to do with the middle east. I also don't doubt that it's easier to PRETEND the middle east doesn't exist considering the political chaos going on right now.
And what exactly is Eurasia... Europe and most of Asia, therefore it doesn't actually exist because the Eurasian tectonic plate even takes up Europe and MOST of Asia. So there is no Eurasia because they can be separated into either... Europe or Asia. It's as stupid as having Africa-Eurasia. It was mainly a reason for labelling half-caste children.
The reason they are not listed is because of radical islam and the fact that they don't have nice beaches.
